Month: June 2022
Salary Employees- As a reminder, salary employees were paid for the week of June 6th and June 13th on Friday, June 17th. Therefore, your July 1st paycheck will only include one week as previously communicated. This is to align us with the USLBM pay cycle. For those that were part of the pay classification change effective on June 20th moving you from salary to hourly, this applies to you also. So I read this and thought, “Oh, that's annoying, but at least my next check will have three weeks of pay. No big deal.” Nope. I don't get that extra week until I quit, or until I die. We live check to check and I have two children. This fucking sucks. How is this even legal? We were just bought out by a bigger company and they forced a lot of us salary people to hourly.

Delta Pilots are overdue a contract
Today, June 30th, Delta pilots will be conducting informational picketing at various airports (ATL, JFK, LAX, SLC, DTW, SEA). Show your support for them by honking your horn as you drive by! The current Delta Pilot contract is 2.5 years overdue as of today. Additional Information: Pilots are prevented from striking at will due to being regulated by the Railway Labor Act. Learn more about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87mzSiJyGM0 Extra info about today's picketing and letters to the customers: https://dal.alpa.org/Contract-Picket Note: These are off-duty pilots volunteering their time to move the needle with management. These are not pilots that are supposed to be working flights today (although I'm guessing media will cover this as a “pilot strike”, this is just informational picketing) If your Delta flight today is delayed or canceled it is not because of these pilots picketing.
Ugh. The downvotes are real!
Business tip!!
a word from mr.snrub
So I work in the insurance industry. I do not have direct contact with customers. Before the pandemic they were waiting on requisitions to allow me to work from home permanently but the pandemic happened and we were all sent home. During the transition to hybrid for most claims employees they came out with a list of jobs that would be remote and hybrid and I was defaulting to remote. My boss asked if I’d prefer remote or hybrid and I told him remote. I paid $8000 to convert my dining room into an office for myself in January. Yesterday they announced people whose roles were defaulting to remote would switch to hybrid and now I have to go back to an office where I have nobody in my department in because they are all in a different state. Makes no sense! Come into the office to do my zoom…
