Working for an employment company in Europe based around care for the elderly. Just for context, this is a British company that have clients who only speak English. They specifically wanted me due to being a native English speaker. In our office was three people. Myself, the manager and a girl who'd been there for 3 months. The manager is also a native English speaker, but the girls second language is English and isnt the best. So today was the kicker and I blew a gasket. For the past 3 days this girl has been goung into the company email account (we all had access) and marking emails which i have opened and read as “unread”. How am I in the wrong here?
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/vnxu88/quit_my_job_on_the_third_day_cuz_it_fucking_sucked/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf I don’t understand why people think I was in the wrong. Do I owe them a notice or something? And as for me fucking over my co workers, I don’t really think that’s fair. It was my third day, i knew fuck all, they would easily survive without me. I’ll be honest, I love the job a lot – I get to work with young adults in their formative years, the facilities are nice, and I have an amazing team that I work with directly. The job can be tough – I’ve been to emergency rooms several times with residents, dealt with severe mental distress, and put my health on the line during the pandemic to keep our students fed and cared for. Part of the deal with the job is accomodation. I have a room, I get fed, and I don’t have to worry about power or wifi. I get this all at a discount,…
Disclaimer: I realize this is a controversial opinion and I am not in the US, so perhaps I don't understand it fully. But here it goes. You are paid too little. SOMEONE has to pay you more. But that someone isn't the customer. The customer should not be responsible for paying the wage. I'm sure the employers LOVE it how they always have a scapegoat for their shit wages. Maybe it's time to shift the focus to them? And if you think “It's just how it it's hard to change the system.” Sure, it's hard, but not impossible. $100 cost of food/service + $20 = $120 total $120 cost of food/service = $120 total It's the same thing! Except the second one is much simpler, actually consistent, with way less anger involved. A: Let's go to place X. B: Nah, they increased prices by 20%. A: They haven't, they…
