I started working at this e-commerce company last year and since then I’ve been doing good. Improving the stores sales by 53% and managing the stores. It’s a small company of 15 people, and so far so good. But lately it’s becoming very unbearable. My boss yells at me and my coworkers almost everyday. It’s extremely frustrating. I am on salary and lately I’ve been getting hints and suggestions to change my Salary to hourly because I want to have my full lunch break ( I work 40 hours a week ) and also late night messages from my coworkers about what I did wrong at work or what I didn’t do. And the worst part of it is that my boss belittles me, it’s a mostly guys in my office so it’s a lot of “ guy talk “ and unfortunately I get ignored whenever i speak my voice.…
Month: June 2022
today i got a taste of just how quickly i would be thrown under the bus by my employer. i'm new to the health and safety committee at work and joined without considering any legal ramifications. that said, i'm not 100% what could realistically be pinned on me as a minimum wage employee of seven months. the reason i'm now considering this is because of something that was brought up at a meeting today. my manager was going over some things we haven't been on top of and mentioned that we could be fined for some paper work we haven't done if we were inspected before correcting it. she then went on to say it would be us, (the health and safety committee) that would be fined. she also mentioned a recent incident at a local grocery store where some kid fell out of a grocery cart, cracked his head…
hiring freeze in Healthcare?
A friend just joined a large Healthcare company that recently just had a name changed. His boss told him that he's the last hire before a hiring freeze. Only open positions are for IT/digital/tech support. I wonder if this is just a beginning ….
Website said 10, ordered at 8:57, they must’ve actually been closing at 9, not 10. So we got in under the wire, which I hate doing, but so it goes. ANYWAY. I ordered hot peppers on my sub, and it arrived with no less than a full 1/4 cup of HOT hot peppers on my standard sized sub. Comrade, if you’re here, fucking salute. Nothing but respect.
As the title says… I’m a salaried 40hr/week employee. I also work another position (per diem) with the same company (about 30 hrs/week). I’m not eligible for overtime pay but was mistakenly paid OT for two checks in April. HR just realized this and wants me to pay it back. Do I, legally, have to?
Company protecting itself from recession
Hi! Will try to keep it short (English is not my first language so apologies in advance). My boss has been promising to promote me for a whole year now – I’m in the same position since I was hired 4 years ago, taking up more and more responsibility. I went to ask one more time and now “it’s not possible because due to inflation and the recession that is expected next year the company has frozen all new hires and promotions to protect itself”. Yeah, I’m sure it’s the multimillion dollar company that needs protection during inflation/recession. Just wanted to vent for a bit as I’m sure more people might have come across this one!

Fired wrongfully, tough future ahead
Just got fired today. I had Covid for a month and half, it took me down real hard. I am fully vaccinated. The first half I got FMLA approved. The second half, was denied few days after filing. I am Deaf so I had to put Email/Text only and do not call. For the last three-ish weeks, daily calls from the FMLA. I tried to contact back through my video relay and it was a robocall, bouncing me around, and unable to get a live person. It was daily thing to get calls and I email, pleading them to respond through my emails. Then finally last week, I emailed them showing my frustration and anger. They increased the calls for the next few days and that ticked me off. So I sent a email telling them to “Fxck off! Just stop and I'm done playing this stupid games.” Today, got…
My state requires every single operator to be licensed to run any machinery. I keep seeing these low paying jobs, right about minimum wage, trying to get people to run forklift without being properly licensed to do so. Operators are responsible for maintaining a license, so this is leaving many operators probably unknowingly operating illegally. Operating illegally leaves the door open for them to be ay fault for any injuries, or damages, since they shouldn't have been operating in the first place. Not only is this an issue because the operators is not going to get the same protections they would if they were legally operating, it's also allowing these employers to pay machine operators stupid low wages that no one would accept if they knew they had to keep up with a Massachusetts hoisting license. You're required to get a DOT medical card once every two years, one if…
