I started a new job that was advertised as a junior position and mentioned that they would provide training, I’ve been there for a week and received 0 training and had to figure out things myself and now I’m being reprimanded for making a mistake on my second day, is this a red flag?

I graduated recently and started a new job a week before, I’ve been at the job for exactly 6 days. The job was advertised as a jr position and that training would be provided. On the first day the manager talked to me about what I’ll be doing for like 10 minutes then gave me a bunch of work to do so I just kind of had to figure it out myself. Everytime I finish something I give it to the manager to review before submitting it just to make sure that I’m doing it correctly since I have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve been working on so many things and today the manager pointed out that I made a mistake on something by inputting the wrong date ( it was something I worked on on my second day at the job) then he said something along the lines…

Lured away from a stable job only to be laid off within five months

Any advice would be appreciated here — especially on how to stay positive, which I'm not feeling like I can do anymore. I'm just exhausted and ready to give up and resign myself to a life of bad jobs. In February, I was contacted by a recruiter for a job that seemed like it would be a good step forward in my career. It was a long interview process that entailed more work that I've ever put into an application process, including an extremely difficult edit test that had to be turned in within 48 hours during the work week. I was desperate to get out of my shitty job and this did seem like a great chance to turn my life and career around so I took I jump through all their hoops and accepted a seemingly great offer. Five months later, it appears likely I am getting laid…

HR fucked up my PTO and I was basically told “oops. oh well.”

So, dispite trying to be as safe as I could due to health reasons, I got covid. I contacted my boss and asked if I could use my PTO for the time I was out. (I had asked if they had any programs for people out for covid but of course they didn't.) I was told in an email by our HR that I had a good amount of PTO that I could use. So a week goes by and I'm back to work. Well, boss pulls me aside and says that actually I don't have those hours. HR apparently didn't factor in the time I had taken off 3 weeks ago. Dispite approving it 2 weeks before I used it. Now I don't get paid for a weeks wages. What's worse, during the conversation my boss insinuated I was supposed to keep track of my PTO. It's only been…

Company buying 3 separate cakes for our birthdays

Recent posts on this sub reminds me of a funny/sad story back when I worked for a certain company. Our managers would buy a whole cake whenever a coworker is having a birthday without asking for their food preference, allergies or whatever. So one time we were celebrating 3 birthdays and the company bought 3 separate cakes for the whole workplace to share. Ironically, none of the birthday people were able to eat anything because one of them was doing keto, the other coworker was vegan and the last coworker (me) is allergic to nuts and all 3 cakes contained nuts. I think those cakes sat there for like 5 days untouched and only 3 people in the office ended up taking a slice. The managers were angry and called us ungrateful. Just another story of how management could have just asked us what we wanted and didn’t. I know…

Is termination negotiable?

Let's say you work for a large corporation and you've never had a history of disciplinary actions like writeups/warning or any kind of corrective action, and your boss suddenly fires you for something so little or unfair. Are employees able to deny or not accept termination if they feel like they don't deserve it?

Why is my job bragging about how long they’ve reduced pay increases?
