My fiancée works for a health department as a contractor for COVID tracing. Today she was fired for “fraud/theft” as she put that she worked Monday the 20th (Juneteenth). This was an honest mistake as she works every Monday so entered it as normal. They have now stated that she failed to sign in everyday she worked (which most contracts don't sign in including the boss's daughter) but they do use a key fob to enter the building and there are security cameras. Both of which will prove that she has been at work all the other times stated showing the honesty in this mistake. They have threatened and gotten a lawyer involved and she is terrified that she is going to go to jail which will no longer allow her to take the NCLEX and become a nurse. All this over an honest mistake that cost the government $120…
Month: June 2022
Probably disregarded here but..
I’ve been unemployed for 6 months, technically 2 years and 6 months but I last worked at “god tier” of retail and since then, I can’t find anywhere that will hire me, even the competitor or former employer I worked at. Then, I’ve only had two interviews after hundreds of applications, and they can only talk about said god tier company in my interviews even though it was a hell hole, took me a year and a half to get to over the PTSD of it. I’m restarting everything, writing a new resume, deleting all data off LinkedIn, and just straight pitching myself from here out. Thanks for reading, Aight i’ll fuck with cha 🤝
Really just a vent but this shit sucks. I’m poor af and struggling paycheck to paycheck. My employer gets 4 weeks to approve our paycheques but god forbid they clear payments 1 day early so I’ve been informed that we will be paid on Monday. So I won’t have transportation for the holiday that I’m forced to work on because I take the bus. I won’t even have my paycheck to order the $40 Uber to get to work. I think the worst part is that I know I won’t even be paid the legally required holiday premium for working the day and can’t afford to be fired for reporting it. I’m so tired and upset and I just want to give up. Any of my fellow Canadians experiencing this?
I was fired from my workplace around 9 am on Monday 6/27. Colorado law states that if employment is terminated by the employer, their last paycheck is due immediately or within six hours of the accountant’s reopening if they were closed. I still have not received my paycheck as of Wednesday 6/29. I don’t think I can afford a lawyer as I was fired very unexpectedly. What should my next steps be?
Interesting read.

4 days off isn’t enough
We get July 4th off and I'm taking off Friday to make it a 4 day weekend. But apart of me knows 4 days still isn't enough time for me. The 2 day weekends fly by now and I can barely get anything done from being so exhausted from the work week. I genuinely need a full week off to get my head back in the right space but I don't want to use up my PTO days. Throw back to last year when I ran out of PTO and then went unpaid for almost a week because winter storms shut the plant down and you can't get paid if you're hourly and don't have PTO to make up days we weren't allowed to come in. Trying to save at least a week of PTO for winter season in case that ever happens again.
Hello, I was not paid overtime on yesterday. My manager changed my shift to an hour later on the work schedule. Yet, she does not know that I took a screenshot of the work schedule days ago, showing evidence she changed the work schedule to allow me not to get overtime. Additionally, I still have not received my paycheck for TWO work periods. I have called my store manager today, and she said the only thing she can do is call HR. I would like to know if I am able to get compensation for having my two pay periods without any wages paid. Keep in mind, I am a minor.
The job offer I got stated my pay was $17.50/hour. Not ideal, but there was promise (from my manager) of a shift differential of $1.50 for a total of $19/hour. Still not ideal, but not the worst. Have to wait an entire month before my first paycheck, which only covered the first week of training. Didn't think much of it because I was expecting it to be small. Get my next paycheck, decide to look into it. I'm only being paid the $17.50. Talk with my manager, talk with HR, and apparently they decided to include the shift differential in with my base pay for a total of $17.50, not in addition to the $17.50, and decided to never make mention of that fact on the job offer. So apparently my base pay is actually only $16, when their posted range was $15-20 starting for a job I already have…
