Can’t take it anymore
My wife and I are in our late 40s, and we make just over six figures combined, but we just can't take the 40-50 hours a week anymore. We've been financially stable for the first time, these last few years, but life is rapidly passing us by and we'll never have the savings to retire. We both love our jobs, but we just want to live our lives for ourselves, not the company. How crazy is it that we want to quit in order to live our lives for ourselves?
Throwaway. At my very small company I have managed to kind of fall face first into a management role over time. After the owner of the company (my boss) called me a “manager” to a client, I took it and ran with it. Now I'm solidly “The Manager.” We are currently hiring to fill a position that recently opened up, which inspired me to create an employee handbook (there wasn't one before) and go over policies and benefits for all employees and make sure we're all on the same page. Before this, the information was super nebulous and not clear at all. Everything except the paid time off. Now the pto days available we're absolutely pathetic, only 5 days after working with the company for TWO YEARS. When writing up the new handbook, I made multiple tiers, allowing employees to earn more PTO the longer they're with the company, but…

I spent almost a year at this new place, and at several points my line manager and the head of my department have had problems with me. Someone passed away in my family and I needed a day off to grieve, and their response “It's a Monday, days off on Mondays are frowned upon” I get a headache and choose to avail a sick leave: “We work from home during our sick leaves and just btw we don't think your headache is that bad” After these initial interactions I kept a professional distance with these two people despite their many attempts to get to know me personally and probe into my personal life.…
My resignation opened up 3 jobs
Love how we were “looking” for people for the past 3 months, yet I was helping out by handling all the loose ends. Now that my boss has my letter we got 3 people filling my single role. Just doing my part for the economy. Looking forward to my new gig while benefiting the job economy all at the same time.
