So I got hired at this new job it's only a dishwashing position and making way less then I want but needed the job theres so many steps to getting this job which is understandable but after hiring me they're now asking for references which I honestly dont have never had to use them in my life. But I'm hired why am I now being asked for references for a low ass position. Sorry for the language I'm just appalled.

Frick Jobs that ask for References
I'm trying to apply for a temp job (at a school) and they require 3 professional references. Buddy! If anyone had a previous job what makes you think they'd apply for this position? Much less have 3 people to refer to?? I'm so sick of these job applications asking for prior experience. I'm just trying to find a bloody entry level job that doesn't require me doing under the table stuff just to meet their requirements.
I'm an exempt employee which means 8-5 mon -fri. But I often work 60-80 hours a week. My issue comes with we are forced to fill out a time sheet but we are forced to lie on our time sheets. We are never allowed to log more than 40 hours. I know it dosen't affect my pay but I would like official records of the time I put in. Is this legal or am I just being paranoid? My bossis no help and just keeps telling me I need to be a team player
I was working 20 hours per week for the 1st 4 months of being hired. Then without explanation it was dropped to 16 hours. A month after that it was dropped to 12 hours per week. Now 2 weeks following My hours have been reduced to 8 hours per week. Does this make me eligible to file for partial unemployment? If it does what are the steps I need to take and are there any details I should know about in advance?
I don‘t want to badmouth my boss completely, because they showed some sort of empathy and offered to let me go home earlier when I broke out in tears and found out one of my family members died during my break. There were a shit ton of costumers, so my boss made it later one clear that I might not be able to go home earlier. I get it, times are rough and we were understaffed today, but I could not fathom the audacity of some people in power when she knew I was in a bad place and still made comments about how I messed up some orders as if I hadn‘t just found out someone of my family died 20 minutes ago. Not only that but my boss left multiple times for extraordinary long “smoking breaks“ knowing damn well they‘re leaving 2 people behind (one of who‘s grieving…
As a lot of people are aware, energy bills for a typical household in the UK will rise to £3,549 a year on 1 October, when a new price cap is introduced. The energy prices for businesses will be significantly higher, with headlines already being made regarding predicted closures. In the UK, the Approved Code of Practice suggests the minimum temperature in a workplace should normally be at least 16 degrees Celsius. If the work involves rigorous physical effort, the temperature should be at least 13 degrees Celsius. These temperatures are not absolute legal requirements; the employer has a duty to determine what reasonable comfort will be in the particular circumstances. Sadly, I suspect a lot of businesses will attempt to save costs by either reducing (or leaving off) the heating or by asking/telling staff to work from home and pass on the associated costs of business to the employees.…
