I've been applying to jobs for months. I've gotten a few interviews and even made it to the third round a few times. But no one wants me. I graduated right into COVID in December of 2019. My internship got cancelled and was never reinstated. The job I did get ended up being a scam, so I started doing stuff for the military. Then I found out I was deploying so there was no point in getting a job when I was going to be gone for a year. A week before deployment I found out I wasn't going. Scrambled to get something and now I hate the job I'm at. But because I don't have enough experience, no one wants me. So I don't wanna hear that I don't want to work. I do! Just not at a place I'm miserable at or for somewhere with ridiculous entry-level expectations.…

The working class isn't really able to get an education. Idk about you but I have to work 10-12 hours a day in the factory to literally survive. If I quit my job to go off to college like a privileged person I go homeless. If I take extra time off to educate myself I go homeless. Yet on reddit, home of the most genius, the highest IQs only. I get things like this told to me “just get a better job” “If you can't work and go to school you're just lazy.” What kind of privileged anal seepage is that? These people don't realize that the doors are closed to the working class. It's too expensive and too time consuming for a working class person to even contemplate. I get made fun of on reddit because I have a degree from a community College I struggled hard to get…

What is your wage? I'm in Alberta. My manager has let me know that she is advocating with the owner to increase our wages. I have been at $22/hour since 2019 and let my manager know there is a comparable opening closer to my house. It is a Pharmasave. As well, is discussing wages with coworkers a protected right in Alberta? I want to know what the two senior techs are making if I have the opportunity to negotiate my own wage.
I made a post about this a while ago here. It’s not necessary to read to understand this post, but it gives more context. Background info: I work at a sports clothing store, and we use Dayforce for scheduling. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a website where you view your schedule, set up your availability, request time off and swap shifts, among other things. Our store manager doesn’t have anything to do with the schedule, this is the assistant manager’s job. 2 weeks ago, the schedule for this week (8/29-9/4) came out, and it was a complete mess. I was scheduled in the middle of 2 of the shows I’m directing, and ALL of my coworkers were scheduled during their classes and other jobs. And considering this week is the week school starts, everyone was insanely thrown off by this and stressed out of their minds (understandably). In every person’s case,…
I work at a “family business” sort of place. I started working here as an illustrator after I met my partner and it is their family. It seems like I have always butted heads with my boyfriends cousin who is just a down right idiot. He’s homophobic, racist, and is offensive to everyone he meets but doesn’t consider himself offensive because nobody tells him he is being offensive. Nobody says anything because he is one of the owners of the business and instead of dealing with it they leave the workplace without notice because it’s easier than dealing with him. This is the main reason the company can’t keep employees and more responsibilities keep getting put on other people that are salary employees. In this companies eyes salary means you work every free second you have. Which brings me to the title of the story. The family took a vacation…
