i posted a screenshot a couple minutes ago but it got taken down. ill explain further here. basically, my shift leader said next Friday i must attend “fire safety training” at work. i said that because it's my day off I might have something medical going on, and my boss quickly shot back saying that if I don't have a doctor's note for my absence, I'll be written up. i only mentioned being busy that day bc again, my day off and im 90% sure i wouldn't be paid for attending the training for reference, im in New Jersey state. what law can i site about employees not having to be in the workplace if they're not being paid for their time? im positive i can get the doctor's note but I would like to know what to say in case I can't, and honestly just in case this happens…

Workplace did not credit my salary
I received an email from my employer that my salary has been credited. It however did not hit my bank. I have not even received any communication on it's resolution and for the first time in my adult life I have realised the hold money has on my emotions and how difficult it is to be mentally at peace without money. Can't even imagine how people who need to take stop working for personal reasons even manage their finances.
I’m a recent grad and still looking for work, haven’t had luck in my industry so I’ve been branching out to other positions. I’m desperate at this point so I applied for a position with a Amazon. Hadn’t heard back in a few weeks so I called up the location to follow up on my application and was informed they’re “not actively hiring but simply collecting applications, though they’d let me know if anything changes!” Why the fuck put up a job posting?
Help I need advice
So I work for GPM investments as a gas station clerk and was today told by my district manager that I am not allowed to refuse service based on someone having a swastika tattoo because that's discrimination though as far as I can tell Nazis are not legally protected class and therefore cannot illegally be discriminated against anyone have any legal precedent I can look at to get a feel where legally I'm allowed to draw that line
My sister in law (SIL) and her partner (S) work for a contract company here in Canada. At the moment, their job is to install cables for television and internet in apartment/condo complexes in their city. One tenant of a building they work at approached them to let them know she had asbestos in the floor and it was more than likely in the walls as well. The tenant had proof of the asbestos, she owned her unit and had contracted a company to redo her floors which is when she found out. My SIL and S then refused to complete work on the building until the asbestos was addressed, as it could be dangerous to their health and the health of the tenants to drill holes in the wall and disturb the stuff. Instead of approaching the company who hired them for work, my SIL's boss instead placed them…
Disney be like: you probably have no roof over your head, but we need you to come in to work and pretend happy. 🤦️
The business model being to buy out other profitable companies, changer their operating procedures to employee centered practices, splitting the profit with the employees 50/50. Repeating that over and over again. The ones in charge wouldnt mind getting bought out, the market rate for employment would balance out and the “work” would still get done.
When I righted myself, she just asked if I needed some water, then berated me for not serving food fast enough. Did I mention that I fainted in front of a group of school children? I'm a lunch lady. I hadn't had time to eat or drink, so I was already dizzy. My GM arrived and scared the hell out of me, and that was enough to cause me to collapse. According to my coworker, she didn't move an inch to help. When I was righted, trembling and barely coherent, she immediately went on about how I was doing everything wrong, wasting time, and that she could “operate this whole kitchen by herself”, effectively saying I'm doing a shit job and wasn't really needed. These same people have been begging for us to refer employees to work for them. I'm 20 years old. I'm exhausted. I cried myself to sleep…
I worked in a non-profit organization up until yesterday. It was pretty much a dream job: crappy pay, but amazing coworkers, diverse team of extremely competent people, a non-hierarchical power structure with participatory (democratic) management, and very fulfilling and meaningful work. Unfortunately, like most nonprofit boards, ours was made up of disconnected, upper-class white boomers who use their board membership for virtue signaling and washing of their reputation. When said board made major financing screw ups, rather than owning up to their incompetence they decided to blame it on our participatory structure and use this as an opportunity to take away all of our power and push a general director on us. This person had zero background in the field, zero experience in nonprofit work, zero relevant education, but had personal connections with multiple board members. Despite a complete lack of know-how they made major decisions with all the confidence…
I am director level at a growing firm and was told in the hiring process that I'd get a “seat at the table” if I joined them. After the first week I was yelled at and not included on any business decisions as I was inwa a promised. I did all the right things like being a good manager to my team, bringing in snacks on my own dollar for the office, first in/last out routine. Not three months later I have been completely ostracized not only by the C-level but also not even being included on team lunch orders etc. I am very confused by the whole ordeal but a good lesson to never be too naive and believe what they say in the hiring process. I am now stuck in a dead job after having quit a good role 10 minutes from home
