My take on the anti-work movement is that we're on the cusp of, if not actually past, the point of scarcity for basic necessities. The primary issues hampering post-scarcity include logistics (how do we get our abundance distributed where it needs to go?); the new economics of a post-scarcity world (Universal basic income [UBI]? Abolish money? A radical redefinition of money based on the idea that the source of money's value is the work that people do, that the work IS that value, and that free-market capitalism is a poor arbiter for translating work into currency? Cryptocurrency?), and just good old-fashioned cruelty and greed. The relative severity each of these three issues has on realizing a post-scarcity economy is debatable. Personally, I think we can kill all birds with one stone, redefining the nature of money in a framework that recognizes that the true store of value is labor itself…

I work as an order picker for a supply company. Our warehouse supplies 27 stores across 3 states so we keep pretty busy. When I started, we had a full crew and we’re finishing our shifts at about 6-7 PM. (Our shift is from 11-8 but our shift ends when all orders are picked, baskets and pallets are moved over to the trucks, cleanup, etc.) Then, within the timeframe of about 2 weeks, 4 workers left and our then shift manager moved to day shift so we ended up with 5 people being left. Since then, we’ve honestly been swamped and all the energy I had when I started has almost run out. One day, we had another employee get hired and then leave and another call out and it happened on our busiest night of the week. I nearly lost my temper and told the shift manager I wanted…

The one I liked and my best friend worked at ghosted me..twice. this was me paying the light rail to get their, doing unpaid work which he said fantastic. I asked for 20 an hour he said the manager wants me at “19 with a 30 day review”. It was a 90 day review before I said “really? A buck? I am going to be your lead in the worst part of town, we just had a mass shooting right next to you”. I am miffed. The week to call me back twice and offering me a dollar less in the contract..I am only doing this because it's the best option for transportation.

Hello, I hope all is well, I’m not sure if this is the right page to post this, so sorry in advance if it’s not. My boss has purposely caused panic attacks and severe anxiety. The anxiety was so bad I couldn’t eat or sleep for months and vomited multiple times a day. I ended up in ER and urgent care multiple times as well. I also had to start going to therapy. I have always suffered from mental illness but never this bad. One day I had a one on one with my manager and I told him in the past I struggled with anxiety and severe panic attacks. My boss made a joke over it and told other people. Since then he has basically harassed me. His boss, my managers boss, also harasses me too and tries to give me panic attacks.
