So left a job I worked at for nearly two years because I started losing interest, was very hard to be motivated to work and the general typical workplace issues. Got a new job and been working there for just over the last 3 months. The place started going really downhill at one point and during that time, a job I applied for months ago reached out and asked if I wanted it still and thought “sure, why not perfect timing”. So I kept my current job just incased the new job wasn’t better. So I did a few shifts there and ended up being very boring and so very slow so I thought “Well I gave it a try and its not for me”. Now I want to quit it but my family is giving me the whole “Not every job is gonna be perfect” and “Its not always…

Christmas Bonuses
I just found out the managing leaders in my company (depending on their profits that year) can get a 30K bonus at Christmas time….. that’s more than I make in a year. Edited to add: If you’re not a manager you don’t get any bonus of any kind.
I work in one of the less central provinces (so not Ontario or Quebec), and felt like sharing my experience being in an administrative role here, and talk about why they have trouble recruiting or keeping employees. Before I start this rant, I want to make clear that our health care system, in all provinces of Canada, is something to be treasured. Having unconditional medical coverage in case something happens that does not have to be maintained by a private plan that comes from an employer is NOT what I'm complaining about. This is purely about the “employee” point of view here. First of all, provinces out of the Central provinces have pretty crappy public transport, save for a few urban centres maybe. Where I am specifically, having a car is not a convenient option, it's a job requirement. Yet, they do not have parking available for employees. There are…
18th Century English nursery rhyme
They hang the man and flog the woman That steal the goose from off the common, But let the greater villain loose That steals the common from the goose. The law demands that we atone When we take things we do not own, But leaves the lords and ladies fine Who take things that are yours and mine.
job interview tomorrow.
I currently work as a manager at a large retailer with small stores and skeleton crews. I don't mind the job in itself but it has no balance. I work up to 100 hours a week with no additional compensation beyond my minimum because I'm salary. I'm usually having to deal with phone calls, texts and group messages even when I'm off work so I'm truly never off work. I make 46k a year and I can't make less than that. However I can't find anything that meets that either. My job interview tomorrow is with chic-fil-a and for the position of like shift manager. On indeed they said 37k up to 50k. Relatively speaking my job is crushing my soul whether there is a holiday or not. What are the odds they'll meet or exceed my salary? As it stands I'm not guaranteed any time off now, even to…
I just recently returned to work after a week long holiday and I’ve just had a wave of severe anxiety rush over me. Literally after clocking in and starting to work, I felt like I was depersonalizing. I didn’t feel real. The situation didn’t feel real. It felt like I was a sim in some sort of sick robotic simulation. I felt like I was going to vomit. For context, I work in a call center. It is very repetitive. I do the same thing almost every call back to back all day. I knew it was repetitive doing it before, but after having a decent break from it I feel sick doing it again. I literally had to run to the bathroom and splash water on my face to stop myself from having a panic attack. It had been a very long time before I had a break like…
Your bad management is not my problem.
I'm a truck driver and last week they couldn't get me home on time for Thanksgiving, even though I told them 3 weeks ahead of time when I needed to be home by, I missed my whole family event because of this. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I was told I couldn't deliver the load anymore because they're shut down on Thanksgiving and to go ahead and head home then deliver the load Monday, then after I deliver the load I can drive home again and enjoy the remainder of my time off. The thing is, I spend 3-4 weeks at a time over the road driving all over the country before going home for a week and I'm working 60-70hr weeks on top of this. I had to drive 5-6 hours off route to get home. If I had agreed to head out Monday (today), then I would have lost…
Work is okay
I really don't mind it.
Is there really a job shortage?
I've submitted over 200 applications at this point from when I started one year ago. I've gotten very few interviews, but no callbacks. I've personally sent emails to some, and no responses. Most are entry-level positions that I've been applying for, which should've been easier to achieve given that they should not require work experience but nothing! “People don't want to work” my ass. I want to work! But no one is giving any chances.
