Background – I started working as a teacher in a private pre school in a wealthy suburb about 2 months ago. The offer letter I signed originally was for a small campus, but last minute i was asked to report to a different campus with a lot more kids. The second campus was closer to my home so I showed up and didn’t really put up too much of a fuss. I never signed any new contracts or offer letters. After spending time at this school I have realized that the teachers are vastly under supported, there is no training – you are just thrown into the classroom – and the teachers are overworked. I plan on leaving after the holidays. Not to mention i am currently trying to fight for the salary i was originally promised. I work 8:30-5:30 with an hour lunch break that has to be taken…

Our dedication is meaningless
Someone I know has worked for Olive Garden tirelessly for 15+ years, starting as a waitress and has now been a manager for over half of that time. They've been exceptionally good at it too, receiving many accolades from the company for hitting goals and numbers the store has never seen before. Recently, the store has had an issue with a select few employees who continuously call off work. This manager sent out a staff message informing employees that if this behavior continued, they would be let go. The guilty person that this message was aimed at got offended and decided to devise a plan to get this manager in trouble. The employee screen shotted the message and had a friend post it online, taking about how “terrible her manager is”. So now OG is pissed about getting “bad publicity”, resulting in an investigation by the GM. The manager got…
We are all slaves to the system why not fight back at some point
I recently asked myself before mentioned question, it doesn't make any sense in my head or the people I speak with. Why Americans often the lower classes actively votes against higher minimum wages and work laws and other similar things. Quite frankly I cannot understand why. Note: I'm Danish so I'm very much biased since I live in a country with some of the world's best work laws which we can thank our Unions for mainly. Our minimum wage is 22 dollars we get at least 3 weeks paid vacation and generally we get at least 14 days paid sick leave (depending on your work) My theory is that Americans are so scared of taxes that they will never tolerate tax raises for welfare, even though tax paid healthcare and welfare is MUCH more cost effective since you remove the capitalistic profit incentive? Sorry just curious no hate meant:)

letter of recommendation?
Long story short, I’m 18, I was a line cook, and opening day of the restaurant I was fired. Could have been my fault but also I was given no warnings or anything of the like. I was only there two weeks and worked ~9 days but I feel like I had a good relationship with one of the managers. He wasn’t there when the other managers fired me so he might not even know why. Should I ask for a letter of recommendation from him for sometime soon? Or will he take the other managers side? Or did we really not even know each other enough to warrant a LOR?
