I know my friend for 25 years, he's a part of a small group of friends i know for that long. When they all starting making families and having kids i was happy for them but at the same time little sad because i thought that our friendship will drift apart because i have no family of my own, but that was not the case, i was part of theirs children lifes since young age and the children grew fond of me thats because im a child myself in my soul, its always easier for me to interact with children then with adults. Anyway… Recently i noticed that my friend is avoiding me, rarely calls me etc… I suspected that his wife is the culprit because she's one of those workaholic type of people who thinks that your job determines your value as a human being. So i recently found…

QUIT MY SECOND JOB
To make a long story short, I started working about a month ago. I loved the job, until earlier this week. I started working with someone new to me and she was not at all nice. She ended up going to management with things I never said, resulting in them calling me into the hallway and cornering me. Because of this and because I have anxiety I started to cry and they basically made fun of me for it. I finished my shift and when I got home I told my fiancé and broke down. I am not the one to give no notice as in two weeks, but that is a courtesy and this job does not deserve one.
So job hunting has been very difficult for me after the pandemic. I was able to find work somewhere in 2021, but then was let go earlier this year. I was able to find another job earlier in October, but I was let go because my new employer had a problem with me following up with my doctor on my probation period. Since then I have struggled to find work in the pandemic, either because I don't have the “experience” even though I've been working in the industry for 5 years, while going to college full time. On top of struggling to find a job, I am forced to live with my family who are very abusive and toxic. There's always been a lot of DC in our home. The police has been called in multiple times. My parents would randomly kick me out of the house whenever they had…
My goal in mind was to purchase a brand new Nintendo 64 game system, but at 5.75/hr it took a long time to get enough funds to purchase it and then my parents dictated that I should not buy it. It fucking sucks in hindsight how I traded hours of my youth for jack shit, hours I could've been free from toiling to no avail.
TL;DNR Accept next $95K offer I’m expecting Monday, and wait for the other interviews that I really want to maybe come with a wfh offer in a few weeks? Or stick with the $65K temp gig “& hope one of those “wish list” gigs I’m interviewing with pan out? I think accept the $95K job offer. Industry interviews & potential job offers coming up Current gig was acquired a couple months ago and a number of us getting laid off, last day this week coming u, no severance package. I interviewed & was offered a six month contract gig for $65K wfh, with potential for it to be extended another six months. Current salary $100K so a reduction is salary. Benefits? It will be fully wfh so I can continue my interviews. Other recruiter said I should be getting an offer on Monday for a mgr role, not remote, at…
Im recovering from the flu and had to take the week off bc of it. I will be able to go back to work Monday and I normally work 5 day weeks but my boss just cut me to 2 days a week and i know why shes doing it. She does this to employees she's trying to get rid of by dramatically cutting their hours so they quit and cant file for unemployment and now shes doing it to me bc i was sick. I wont make enough this pay check and certainly wont make enough next paycheck to pay bills. Cant wait to get outta food service.
Together we’re unstoppable
Our species is amazing. Great apes that have risen from relative obscurity to become the most dominant organism ever to inhabit the earth. Rapid evolution has allowed us to gain consciousness, form societies, and bend earth’s bounty to our will. Go us! When you step back and think about it, we can do almost anything we want. However, our biggest accomplishments have been achieved by banding together to achieve common goals. From farming to the creation of AI, have been done due to our fortitude, creativity, and collective will. With all of these accomplishments on our species’ resume, why can’t we figure out how to greatly reduce or eliminate unnecessary suffering? That should be a goal of ours, right? Regardless of national or political affiliations, religion, or race I firmly believe the 98% of us that don’t rule the world would sign up for that lofty goal. What’s the downside?…
Here is a Github repository that contains almost all the videos about the protests. It also has a timeline summery. The protests are spreading from universities to several major cities. The materials here are not translated, but may be try using google translate or other similar tools to see for yourselves. https://github.com/zy-dsj-sm/Protest-2022-11 The protest at Nanjing City started from a brave college student (she/her) This is the biggest wave of protests since Tank Man, people of China Mainland finally start to wake up. The major wave of the protests started with a tragedy happened in Ürümqi, the capital city of the Xinjiang province. That city has been under super strict zero-COVID policy lockdown for over 100 days. That means all the citizens has been locked in their home. A few days ago, an apartment building caught fire but people weren't able to escape due to all the exits…
May 1 is national workers days in some areas. But most of us don’t even make minimum wage, let alone a living wage. Many of our states are right to work states and support corporations more than they support the workers. We are not getting good health insurance, we hardly get any vacation. And if Something Happens, there’s no one there to advocate for an employee. These big companies should all have union representation. Every single one of their employees should be covered. And corporate profits should go directly to employees. Many of these organizations should not have multi billion dollar profit Martians and they’re lowest paid workers barely making enough to get by. This list is not exhaustive, and we all have our reasons, but mostly we do not have the kind of rights in the United States that other employees are afforded elsewhere. Most of us are two…
