Injury advice

I NEED HELP. I got injured at work a few weeks ago and got a work clearance certificate that lasts me until the 3rd of Feb from my doctor. It said that I was cleared for light duties only and as the roster had already been made up for the week following, I was able to work my normal shifts but shorter hours. This week, I don't get rostered on so I ask my manager why that is. He tells me that he's not going to roster me on for a few weeks until I've completely healed because he needs someone at 100%. Fair enough. I let WorkCover know that I've been removed from the roster for a few weeks and confirmed that my manager said I needed to be 100% and there are no duties that I can attend to until I'm at that capacity. WorkCover says that they…

I’ll be speaking to an attorney tomorrow

Don't be like me and stand up for your health and rights before it gets this far. I had COVID and followed the work 'policy'. I showed up for my first day back on Monday. I told my boss I'm still feeling some of the residuals and need to take it a little easier. She says okay and I get bombarded with stuff about how my clients are pissed because the accounts I was working (that I asked for help with) didn't get anything done and that my morning is full. I pass out at this point and come to on the ground with everybody there. They get me water, I'm still seeing double and mention it. My boss just gets my work stuff out and takes it to my desk for me to 'help out'. It takes me a good ten minutes before I'm able to get up and…

HR’s “January present” to all employees

I was hoping I would never have any content to post here, but after having a team meeting and seeing everyone, including myself, receive these “gifts” I couldn't help myself. My warehouse job has us working three 12 hour shifts 1 week, then 4 twelve hour shifts the next week. This pattern alternates on a week by week basis. However, for the past 2 weeks we've been expected and required to work an additional 12 hour shift. At our meeting today (shift supervisor and all warehouse workers on shift) we were told that the mandatory overtime would be extended until the end of February. If you miss one of these overtime days, which is scheduled outside of your previously agreed upon schedule, then you will receive an attendance point. Yes, a point based attendance system in a warehouse environment, strange I know. Anyways, the duck and hot cocoa was so…

Staff Meeting

Bunch of worthless shit talked about but my favorite was that we now have to put our stuff away first and grab our stuff after clocking in/out. Maybe 2 minutes of time. Less then a dollar of pay. No one “steals time” like they say we do. We walk in, clock in up front, head to the back, put our stuff in locker and walk back up front. If I’m on the premises I should be clocked in?(not including lunch breaks) Am I wrong?

in need of help/advice

i have been working for an independently owned and operated Best Western for over a year (Best Western Corporate still has reign over them in terms of human resources and etc.) when i first started things were great, and slowly it progressed into being the worst and most toxic work environment i have ever seen or faced. just to name a few things wrong: – the owner makes nasty comments on all her female staff’s weight – one of the employees was never reprimanded for threatening to burn down the hotel, and for physically assaulting a drunk guest – owner’s son who is second in charge calls his staff stupid, idiots, dumb, etc. – i’ve been threatened of being fired and called lazy for “refusing someone service” (we were sold out of the amount of rooms he needed for the week for his workers so i directed him to speak…

At my wits end and I don’t know what to do..

I’m over my job.. I’m an accountant for a small corporation that’s riddled with nepotism and favoritism.. I’m doing the work that two or even three people should be doing based off how big we are/ how many employees and locations we have and I’m not getting paid enough to pay my bills.. I also can’t stand working/ sitting in front of a computer all day.. I’d love to be able to work for myself/ do my art, I’m too exhausted from looking at hundreds of invoices a day do to anything creative after work. My rent just went up and water bill just went up, natural gas prices just doubled. I’ve lived without a microwave for two years because I enjoy cooking, now I have to get a microwave because I can’t afford to cook, my bill has jumped $60 and the month isn’t even over. I don’t know…

People are Alike

Candy O’Queen from Falcanna and how I compare Iran and the US in a ridiculous way. Here is how I see it tonight in regards to our nation’s (USA) inability to ensure proper human rights- Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, can be afforded to everyone in our nation. The top tier wealth in this country controls the media, and as a result controls those that are pushed to be in government. We see with the latest speaker voting and ridiculous top secret document charade. I always say to the people close to me as a joke. “We have the best reality television show that is always on, it's our government.” They have ensured we are all divided through their coverage and lack of regulation over social media and data gathering. AI is moving quickly and could already be advanced. I fear it could get worse. What I see…
