so im sick right now. on friday i had to leave 2 hours in because i just couldnt, i felt like i was gonna faint. and 2 days ago i had a conversation with one of my bosses asking for the attendance policy so i can try and not lose my job because of me being sick. (iv been sick for a week and its getting worse) well i look at my schedule today and im scheduled for…. 8 days in a row. when i last checked i was only scheduled for 3 days so i could do my birthday stuff on the 10th instead of my actual birthday….. now i dont get a day off until the 16th….. is my boss being a petty douchebag or do you guys think it was just a scheduling error? im leaning more twords petty because they altered my schedule…

I am employed full time and I'm looking to change roles to something that is less stressful than my current role. If you read the news anywhere, we are being told there are too many jobs and not enough people to fill those roles. One of my gripes with the above statement, is that job advertising is so disingenuous, its laughable. I am looking for a role that is fully remote. There are 2 reasons why I have given up using my countries most popular website for job searches. Firstly, 90% of the time you will find “We expect you to come into the office 3 times a week :-)” or “this is not a fully remote role” somewhere in the ad. Secondly, you find a suitable role listed as WFH, they have one of the above messages in the ad, but fuck it, the job looks good, only to…

for some context: steve sent out a message on slack saying he wasn't going to be granting any more time off for the holiday season. i didnt know at the time, but my family was planning a trip for thanksgiving. i told him, and expressed that i wouldn't be in california and im not sure what to do, and thoroughly apologized for the inconvenience. I got back from the trip, and wasn't on the schedule. Instead, there were two new people. found out later that the person he hired in my place got in a massive fight w our cool manager about eating in her work attire and fucking took off her clothes in the middle of the restaurant. AND THE KICKER: they went bankrupt and shut down permanently 3 weeks after they fired me. fuck you, steve.

Just a rant/story: It was 1987/8. I was working part time at a company that manufactured audio components (remember those?) in their marketing department as a support person while putting myself through college. My duties centered around the marketing department and included shipping stuff out for them (shirts, mugs, devices samples, etc). Pretty mindless stuff but I absolutely loved the company and their products.
