Company shorted my check and wants to make it up next pay period.

I’m a bartender, I make $4/hr + tips in TEXAS. Is there any law that I can cite that will make them pay me soon instead of my next paycheck. They shorted me some money on my check, my co-worker was shorted around $500 and they told him they will add it to next paycheck. I’m going to find out how much I’m short but I want to go in prepared.

The Tipping Creep is ruining it for tipped workers.

Here in the US there has been a bad taste in everyone’s mouth when it comes to tipping. Lately places that haven’t traditionally accepted tips are now flaunting the option to tip (Subway, Little Caesars, Home Depit etc). All this is doing is putting an even more bad taste in the mouths of consumers regarding tipping. Additionally this leaves less money available for consumers to tip the hard working tipped workers making $2.15/hour. That’s money that could go toward rent, beans and milk.

I was told I couldn’t call in to work today and I ended up in a car accident

Literal snowstorm outside, roads are icy, and I was told that I had to come in because one of the other employees walked 15 minutes to get to work. So I drove to work since it would've been a 45 minute walk, and ended up sliding on ice when I tried to slow down at 30km/h. The best part is, they didn't even need me today. I was supposed to help with shipping but there's no way the truck was coming in the snow.

Companies Are Exactly Like Families

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Big or small, they'll tell you they are family. And they are. Like a Mafia family. They demand loyalty and obedience above your personal life. Company (Mafia Family) comes first. Then only to fire you / lay you off at a hint of a downturn. Oh you got whacked / laid off? It's just business. Edit: And reasons are the same – Profit & Greed.

I finally told my manager that I will not be working on anything outside my scope of responsibilities

I’ve been at my company for several years and I never got promoted despite frequently asking for it, going above and beyond and sometimes helping out with external projects and covering for team members when they take time off work. Last week I had a very unfair performance evaluation despite all my hard work. It felt like a slap in the face and it was awakening. Yesterday my manager had the audacity to ask me to work on a project completely outside my scope of responsibilities, so I explained to them that I will only work on what I’ve normally worked on, then he tried to convince me that this project is related to my responsibilities, which was quite ridiculous considering I’ve never been involved in anything similar, especially one that belongs to a different department. I explained that I won’t be involved in such projects until we discuss promoting…

change my mind: Universal Healthcare is cheaper than insurance system.

I might offend some people, but large amount of public money is spent on buying luxury cars of insurance company owners in USA. In Universal Healthcare system, every penny is used to improve health of public so they contribute more to the economy. I've heard that people in USA are one hospital bill away from being broke. I'm from a third world country but I feel assured that I will never be spending my entire saving on medical bills as we have free healthcare for everyone.
