Isnt it crazy how much you have to sacrifice to get atleast some kind of vacation once a year?
Micro-managed, need suggestions
I have about 5 years experience in corporate IT as both a project manager and as an about tier 2 technician. 6 months ago I got a new position in a medical setting as an IT project manager, the problem is that I am not under the IT department, my “direct report” is the “executive director of finance” who has let his awful PM, who started about 1.5 years before me, as my supervisor in a way. For reference, this other PM is about at technically adept as my 6 year old niece and that might be an insult to my niece. I am actively looking for another job because working under her is really not ideal. She is a micro-manager to an extreme degree which would be annoying enough if she actually understood my job. I have a remote office in our tech building and a regular office in…
This seems wrong. Why should someone not on a manager's pay step in and do the tasks a manager refuses to do?
Last week I got an email from a manager inviting me and the rest of my team to a work event in another city. They said they really wanted us all to come and it was super important for the whole team from the area to be together. They said we'd be paid for our time plus travel and accommodation covered. They asked for a definite answer by EOD so they can organise. We spoke to partners etc and then accepted. Yesterday I get another message from the manager. They have had some more employees, who actually live in the same city as the event, put their hand up for this event, so they're going to take them instead. They said we could still choose to come if we really wanted to but we wouldn't be paid and they wouldn't cover any expenses for us. So really they just wanted…
I’m a manager at a fast food chain and I know I’m going to be screwing some shifts up but I’m putting in my two weeks tomorrow. Can’t decide if I should lie and say I got a new job or if I should tell him the truth which is that my summer is just super busy and I don’t want to be working. He’s going to try to convince me to stay is the problem and I’m a pushoverI’m so nervous 🙁
The collapse of capitalism is inevitable
Unless artificial intelligence can come and save us, I believe we are doomed. The gap between the wealthy, middle class, and the poor is astronomical. It’s soon to be only the wealthy and the poor; the middle class will be destroyed. Everyone knows that prices have gone up and wages have stayed the same. This is all while qualifications for jobs have increased but the education required does not reflect in wages. There are jobs out there that pay $15 for a bachelors degree that cost $100,000 or more. A studio apartment that cost $700/month in 2016 is now $1200/month in 2023. Food, gas, rent, bills, and everything in general costs significantly more while no one is making more. People in the US are TIRED. In my opinion, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week is overworking our population based on the technology we have available. And that is…
