Was I in the wrong here
Context: I take a hybrid college course meaning on mondays and Wednesday’s it’s online and on Saturday it’s in person . I also go to MMA practice on saturdays so saturdays are gonna stay booked even after the semester. I told her I maybe be able work 1 Saturday out the month IF my personal schedule permits. During the my interview 2 months she told me Sundays were mandatory she didn’t mention anything Saturdays. Breakfast job opening at 7-3. Class 8:30 to 1:30 on Saturdays . Once to semester is over Mma practice is from 10-1
For context, I work at a Sam’s Club and the rule for Sam’s and Walmart is you get a “point” every time you call in and miss work, and are eligible for termination upon accumulating 5 points. I currently have 3.5. Additionally, there are “key dates” during which calling in grants you TWO points rather than just one. I put a request for unpaid time off for today over a month ago, but it was ignored completely. I asked about it and my boss said he’d take a look, and the next day my request showed up as denied. I then try to get around that by swapping shifts with a coworker, only to be told that I can’t do that. I cannot miss what I have going on today, so I’m just gonna have to call in to work.
