So I just quit my job today after over 11 years (and ten years stint before that at the same place). My mental health severely declined when they completely changed my job description, schedule, expections and expect every employee to put work before their families. What do I do now??? Fuck I knew the job by the back of my hand. But every week became worse and worse. Multiple others have previously quit because of the same issues. How do you start over in your 40s? I want to work from home but not on phones. Im all about some data entry. I’m over customer service. Any ideas? Thank you in advance

Boss is fired for theft, so he shreds my scholarship paperwork… Before I changed careers to aviation years ago, I was apprenticing as an auto mechanic. I had a small scholarship funded by a dealership that paid half of my tech college tuition. The manager was a good guy, which is why I accepted this position at a brand I wasn’t a fan of. Unfortunately he didn’t tell me that he was retiring the next month… The assistant manager filled in for a couple weeks, before the new service manager started. He’s commuting an hour from a much larger city with higher pay and cost of living. Red flag number one. He would bring in friends cars for work, and handle the bills himself. Red flag number two. This was during a small recession, and the dealership couldn’t afford to have me apprenticing with a master tech, helping him work…

So I got this new job (3rd day in) and they refuse to call me by my first name because there was someone who used to work there who died with the same name. Is this even professional? I’m not sure how long it’s been since the person passed but this situation is so weird and uncomfortable. They say they’re still mourning but why should it be my fault? It makes me feel so uncomfortable when someone introduces themselves to me and they ask me, “They told you about your name right?” Like wtf. They want to use my last name on my name tag instead of my first name.
