Month: May 2023
I'm in Illinois and I was fired for being arrested at work I was not charged or convicted and everything worked out as a misunderstanding however supervisor decided that I had not quote met the requirements of the probationary period, I've only been there for like a month, and today I got called on my day off and was fired they refused to say that I was fired for being arrested however there was no other reason to fire me I have one point for attendance cuz I was late one day and my production was excellent I was meeting quota and previous to the day I was arrested told I was doing a really good job several times by the same supervisor. It's my understanding that in the state of Illinois it's illegal to fire someone simply for being arrested however they refuse to state that that was a…
some of you may have seen this post https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/13lokhu/had_an_ibs_attack_that_stuck_me_in_the_bathroom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button The next shift after the 30 minute pay cut one, my pay was cut again for a 15 minute bathroom break. I had the idea to time myself for the bathroom breaks that day, it was only 7 minutes. So, on Tuesday I handed in my notice of resignation, and yesterday was my last shift. If they're gonna start cutting pay for bathroom breaks but only actually do that to me, I'm out. Thanks again to everyone on the last post for all your helpful advice. Next time I apply for a job, I will be sure to officially inform them of my condition to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.
The managers and my own coworkers are trying to gaslight me about the guy the cops arrested back on Wednesday. Here's a timeline of events. Last month, the seafood guy walked out because he was “disrespected” by black coworker. It's impossible to get or stay fired at the location. He was allowed to come back. Last week, he got stumbling drunk after two hours of work. They called him to office. He walked out. The dept. manager (who is black) said that he didn't want him back. Guess what, the store manager let him go back. Their excuse? Only one manager saw him drunk. Never mind that there were two departments of workers saw it. Our testimony doesn't count. Wednesday, dept manager returned. Day went okay, until the drunk left 4-6 pages of scribbled threats in red ink. The meat dept. guy thought it was blood. What I could make…
I really hate when pay is late by a few days. I feel anger towards the company when the pay is late even when they say “It's the bank's fault”. You know why? Because they have 2-3 days to send the process/docs/whatever to the bank so that salary could be credited in the next following days. Most of the time, it's late because they send it 1 day before or in the morning the same day. I just learned salary will be credited on monday instead of today because the thing was sent this morning. So I basically sat all day long and did nothing. I don't work for free. If salary is late by 6 days I'm not being productive for 6 fucking days.
Hey my employer just scheduled me for my days off during the week (wed&thurs) because we have off on Monday but I already have prior commitments that have been paid for and non refundable can they legally fire me if I refuse to work on those days? (Georgia if anyone is wondering)
I just kind of wanna vent here, I am a college graduate. I am incredibly smart and versatile. But no employer wants to take a chance on me. And this is 10 years after graduating. I am disabled. And it’s kind of obvious. So I get rejected from a lot of jobs, because they found someone better. Or they say it’s because I don’t have experience, for an entry-level position. I have never once made more than 30 grand. I don’t know how to start an online site business like affiliate marketing to actually make up for some lost income, so I’ve been literally scraping by.
Sedentary Work Filter
As someone with a qualifying disability covered under the ADA, but unfortunately handed a lot of stigma because I “look” young and healthy—I am SO fucking tired of landing jobs where I am inadvertently discriminated against or asked to do things physically straining. Even when I do all the proper things by filing an ADA form and working with HR—somehow I still end up in a bad position. Anyway, without dragging on too much… Job Search Engines like LinkedIn need to fucking add a “sedentary work” option. Please for the love of god.
