Got a promotion but they are bumping my pay 5K less than what everyone else in that position is making I’ve been at this job for almost 2 years now and I feel like I’m on a constant battle trying to prove my worth. When I started with them I was referenced by my previous employer. However because they felt like I didn’t have junior level skills yet they gave me an entry level position. Which was fine bc I thought since I had 9 months of previous agency experience I’d be promoted in no time. Not the case at all. It took me over a year to get promoted even though I was doing junior level work by that time, they admitted they had dropped the ball on my promotion and gave me a bonus and raise to make up. All fine until they had onboarded 2 new junior…

Left my consultant job for a client
About 2 months ago my boss asked me to volunteer for additional tasks that would essentially end my work from work from home status. I was open to the new role if it came with a raise. My boss said absolutely not and seemed genuinely offended by the request. A few weeks later I applied for a position directly with the client. I was hired and received a substantial pay increase. My new employer has cut the job assignment to my old employer. The loss in revenue will exceed a million dollars. I probably would have took the new role with my old employer for 5k. I really can't even imagine fucking something up that bad.
Why even bother setting up a second interview to make me waste my time and money only to tell me they're not hiring the position I applied for? I hate it here.
I work evenings/nights at an express for a supermarket chain, and we’re severely understaffed, but we’re getting 3 new people in a few weeks. So, since we’re understaffed people being sick is a massive issue. (We’re not even understaffed theoretically, my manager just doesn’t mess with the day staff) Before I get into it all I want to say, I have issues with my mental health that’s had a big negative impact on my physical health in terms of sickness, I regularly get gastrointestinal issues. Because of this I’ve called out of work in the past and have apologised every time. I haven’t taken a sick day in two months even though I’ve been sick in that time, and worked through my shift yesterday, on which I did overtime he asked me to, despite the fact I had to keep asking my colleague to watch the tills for me for…
I worked for a very small security company. I worked in the mobile division with 2 other people. We worked in a sort of 3 shifts rotation. You start with opening and closing for 3 days. at 4PM you start going to different businesses to close for them, you are done at around 2AM then you have 3 hours of unpaid break. then 5PM till 7PM you open some of the same businesses again. Then you have 3 days of alarm duty. You sit at home with the company car and if an alarm goes of somewhere, you drive to there, check it out and reset the alarm. Than last you had 3 days off and repeat. After a gruelling 3 day alarm shift with almost no sleep in 3 day. I took a corner to sharp and hit a pole… Then this boss wanted me to pay for the…
can’t call out sick
i like my job. i do. i get paid well (and sometimes paid to do nothing), have nice coworkers, and it’s an easy job. but i’ve been sick for 17 days and i’m not “allowed” to call out sick. i work at an indie cafe, and i work alone two days out of the week. but today im working with two of my coworkers and im still not allowed to call out. i didn’t sleep last night and have been on and off the toilet. i wanna cry but i gotta go get ready now
This Gen Xer is quiet quitting too.
Supposedly Millennials and Gen Zs are the ones into quiet quitting, but I decided that I won’t put in an extra ounce of effort into my job from now on. New manager is a spineless pushover who keels over whenever another department demands that his staff takes on more responsibilities. Of course he doesn’t have to do anything extra himself. But maybe he will have to, because I’ll be in the restroom a lot.
