My whistleblew against my manager for harassment and unsurprisingly they told me to take a hike. They offered me a severance pay but that gets taxed. I asked them to change the severance pay to medical expenses reimbursement so it won't get taxed. And they said no. Why?!

I work in sales, meaning I talk to people for a living. Sometimes 3-4 families a day for close to 2 hours each, my voice is crucial to my job. I recently just got over a battle with bronchitis, still coughing all day, and my voice is coarse. I can barely talk for longer than 10 minutes without losing my voice. I tell my boss this information; “Look I'm coughing hard all day, I don't have a voice and I can't make it through an entire conversation. I don't think it's worth coming in if I can't do my job.” Essentially told me to just come in anyway, I'm salary so whatever. Within the first 5 minutes of talking, my voice gave out once again. Rather than just send me home, I'm scheduled 3 seperate families today. I'm excited to see how well I sell something if I can't speak.…
What do you call this?!
Someone stole $950 worth of items from a Walgreens – there were 309 news stories about it. Walgreens was caught stealing $4.5 million from employees – it got just one single story.
What country are you guys from?
Just wondering where all of us are from around the world. Pretty cool that there’s 2 million of us.
Take your job and shove it
As employees we are expected to be honest in our resumes, but future employers lie through their teeth about the job and company to get a body in a position. As employees we are withstanding being treated less than human because we are paid a meager salary. A salary that in most cases cannot compete with the cost of living these days. The financial struggle is overwhelming. As a woman, I was forced to be treated like a piece of meat and when I stood up for myself I was told I was not to expect a safe environment of work and my assailant received no repercussions. Forcing ME to quit. We are burned out, depressed, anxiety ridden, pissed off, and tired. Jobs shouldn’t ruin your life, but they do. We all try our hardest and at the end of the day we know we can be fired for nothing.…
My dad is in his early 50s. Use to work at the steel mills before they all shut down. My mom divorced him eventually for not having a job. Once he got back on his feet, he would work his regular job, 40hrs/week and find construction/warehouse jobs etc. He at minimum works 65 hours a week. Says he feels like he hasn't done anything if he works any less. There were times he would tell me he would come home, sleep 2 to 4 hours, get right back up for another job. When my parents were still together at max he would work 55 hours a week, cuz even though he spent time with us, he also had 4 kids to support. My siblings and I are gown now, so he doesn't pay any support anymore. He still works like this and then some. He also doesn't take care of…
Probably the best path would be to push for more laws and benefits for workers instead of higher wage or corporate tax. Only a few might agree but hear me out: If the wages increase and the tax for big corporations increases with let's say a 10% then the price for products and services will increase by at least 15% and knowing how greed the corporations are this will not end up well resulting in an entrenched inflation for corporations to profit (again) from and the people left even more poor in the long run. I see this as a vicious circle and not the best path to proceed in the long run. I bet there are a lot of worker laws and benefits that can be added (I'm familiar with the ones from Europe where I live) which could make the workplace bearable instead of the path described above…
