Occupational health win
This is about a job I left 5/6 years ago. Info: I have a genetic kidney disease that has caused me constant chronic pain for the last 8 years (its incurable and sadly so is the pain) when I applied for this phone shop job(somewhere I always wanted to work at….regret) I informed them about my health and the pain I deal with but I never missed a day even though somedays I could hadly stand and was sent home but wanted to prove I could still work. I can not drive due to all this so I would get bus' to work and when they made me go home a member of staff would take me despite me not wanting to go, needed the money Fast forward a year the manger, who was a complete asshole, was clearly trying to get rid of me (greanted not the best sales…
Good Morning, Idlers!
Sunday Scaries 1 week into my new job
I recently got a job at a fast food coffee chain (you can imagine where), after exiting a toxic work environment at a small business. I chose to work at this coffee shop bc I have 8 years experience working at one of their grocery store locations. I wanted out of my other job so badly that I resorted to this, and I genuinely convinced myself it was the best idea. (The small business I worked for paid $16/hr, which is hard to come by in my area — coffee shop pays about the same) About 2 days into the job, I realize I made a mistake & could not endure this job long-term. Luckily, I applied for a different job with good pay, and had an interview 2 days later. The interview went really well (at least I believe so!). I like the way the job sounds, and the…
Im unemployed & frantically searching for work & considering taking PT job to stop bleeding & to get something down on resume to show im gainfully employed but having worked PT jobs many yrs ago i shudder thinking about having to do that over FT job.
I don't have issues talking with people aged 20-50, but most of the boomers I spoke to get mad when I speak with them casually. They misinterpret the stuff I say and get offended when I speak with them as equals. They think they should be treated with utmost respect because they're older and higher up.
Possible mismanagement?
I’d like to keep my workplace confidential, I live in BC Canada. I recently had a falling out with my manager/ gm. I was very upset about the shifts I was given (I am a server dependent on tips). Basically I ended having a falling out with the GM. It was a very busy shift one person didn’t show up and we were short staff. While being stressed out and trying to run my tables food my manager and me had a back and fourth about what food should be run first (This is a restaurant, and my salary is dependent on tips). I was pulled aside later in the day and written up due to the way I spoke to my manager. When I confronted my manager after the fact about why they are giving new hires more shifts than me (This is a constant problem which I have…
So this happened to me at work
So I've been working in the hotel industry for a little while now, and at this particular hotel for roughly a year and a half. The manager's assistant, who happens to be holding somewhat of a hybrid position (still doing shifts behind the desk, but also doing all the work the manager is too lazy to do, which is a lot) is a dick. A major one. Doesn't say hello when she arrives in the morning, and attacks you right away on whatever she can find to make your day shitty. You're drowning in emails and calls and bookings but you haven't replied to this email that you received less than a minute ago yet? How dare you be so unproductive and unmotivated. You think you're doing a good job? Here's a list of all the little nothings that were not done exactly the way I want it yesterday and…
Waiting until I get thrown out, still getting company money in the mean while 😀 has been going this way for months now xD
