This seems… obviously discriminatory, right? (they PROMISE it’s not though)

Should I try and sue for employee misclassification?

So I work for a design agency in California. They have me classified as a 1099 NEC but they choose the projects I work on, expect me to be available during their business hours, and I have to request time off. Is it worth trying to sue them? I don't give af about losing my job at this point as I'm already on my way out the door.

I might get fired from my job for taking time off to visit my grandma on her deathbed.

I just started a new job and I found out 30 minutes before one of my shifts that my grandma was hospitalized in grave condition. I called out of work, explaining that I needed to fly out and visit my dying grandmother and one of my supervisors had the audacity to tell me I will be getting a point for calling out on short notice. I went anyway. My grandma passed a day after I arrived at the hospital but I got to say goodbye and see her one last time for which I am so grateful. I’m now grieving my loss. My company apparently doesn’t offer bereavement but I honestly don’t care, I just need time off, paid or not. They’ve been super cryptic about me returning for work/taking additional time off for the funeral. What do they expect me to do? Say, “you know what, the profits of…

Wtf is the point of “Unlimited PTO” if I can’t, in fact, get unlimited PTO

I requested PTO at my job for a month to travel and see family after being severely burnt out (while covering for my manager while she was out on maternity leave), and she denied it saying that it would be “too long”. So now I’m still going for a month, but only got two weeks approved and have to work during my vacation for two weeks. So ridiculous it makes my blood boil

My boss keeps telling members of our company she only makes $23/hr

I work for a fine gardening company in RI and every client we work for is either a millionaire, one might even be a billionaire. Nearly 15 clients with a crew of 5. She has told two members of our crew when they’ve asked for raises (1-2$ raises) that she only “gives” herself $23hr which is why she’s not willing to pay someone that hourly rate. She even showed someone her paystub. I don’t even know how I would handle this situation if it were to happen when/if I ask her for a raise.

10 DAYS SO YOU CAN WHAT?!

I am extremely frustrated and angered by the recent developments during my closing shift. Today, my manager, who coincidentally happens to be the owner's sister, informed me that our new employee will be running the other location in a different city. Consequently, I am now expected to work five 12+ hour shifts per week. To add insult to injury, at the end of August, I am required to work 10 consecutive days, each lasting 12+ hours because the entire family is going on a cruise. Considering my current hourly wage of $16, it is overwhelming to be tasked with managing the location for a week and a half. Additionally, I had a disagreement with my superiors about the budget for microfiber towels for the glass displays. They perceive me as unprofessional when the cash drawer is off, despite it only occurring on the days when I'm not responsible for opening…

Any advice would be helpful to me

Basically that after being at work for around 3 weeks, I was able to come up with a cool website which could help my boss (A) reduce training times and use as an educational tool. I asked to get paid to finish after showing him the draft, he said yes My big boss (B) learned about this and asked me to do a more complicated ones and may eventually build an app for the company (my company is a private big comp since 1960s). Problem is that the big boss is stingy comparing to my boss and doesn’t wanna pay me (eventhough it’s not his money, 🤷‍️). He wants me to work during downtime or at home. I said no and told him that it’s a complicated project (my job doesn’t include coding, it’s just a basic medical device maintenance job) and I want at least 2 hours before shift…

How to say you don’t want to do X tasks anymore?

Please read through: I recently joined a company as a front-end developer to work mainly with React. However, the project I was hired for is still in the early stages of development, so I haven't had the opportunity to work on the project part that I was hired for yet. Instead, I've been assigned some random tasks, many of which are related to backend and security, and unfortunately, I have zero experience in these areas. Initially, I took on these backend tasks to fill my time when there wasn't much front-end work available. However, now that I finally have some front-end tasks at hand (related to another project and involving React to some extent), the security/back-end team keeps assigning me more complex tasks, even though I expressed my lack of experience in those areas. I really want to focus on front-end development, and I'm unsure how to handle this situation…
