Majority of the time hard work just gets you more work. It's happened to me before. It happens to people way too often nowadays. You think you're doing good and it'll pay off. That your boss will notice and give you what you deserve but sadly it's either you gotta know someone or be a better negotiator than a worker. Sad but true.
Month: July 2023
Started at a remote company based in NYC, while I live in CA (Alameda County) about three months ago. On Thursday they had about 10 of us join an “urgent meeting” separately, only to lay us off due to the outbound call program ending. They said the lay off decisions were based on metrics and tenure. Come to realize there were people included in the lay off that worked long before me, and people who remained that worked after me. So metrics must be the main reason I assume. The thing is I discussed reasonable accommodations and have it on record through my initial annual performance review that my metrics were to be 10-12 tickets an hour for 3-6 months and per my last 1:1 with team lead, I was ahead of schedule. I specifically called out my worry of job security in meetings and to want to know what…
I have been working at my current job for two years. I just got transferred to a new location. Something happened at my previous location- I became friends with one of my coworkers. I am in a management role and they were one step below. We had a very good relationship, but both of us are particular and can be fickle. There was some things that got misinterpreted and he ended up talking to my manager about it. I had already been talked to before this, my manager did not like how close we were. My friend ended up leaving the company and we talked things out and clarified the misunderstandings and we are fine. But the damage had been done at work and I received a final written warning, with no previous disciplinary action. They did not want me in that location anymore and I was not comfortable working…
Hello, so I work in security. My boss gives me so much work that its driving me crazy. We all are suppose to have an inspection a month to do, everyone on the team. However, everyone I see on the team has either 1 or no inspections, while I have 7 to do a month, 7 INSPECTIONS!! We recently transferred over one of my inspections to someone else in the team because the stress was getting to me of over working myself (I make 1$ more than everyone else). I decided to give it to someone else, only one inspection so I would still have 6 to do compared to everyone else. Well a week later my boss comes back to me and telling me “The guy wont be able to do it, he says he does not have time to do it, we really need you to do” I…
I got a offer letter from a employer, it involve alot of driving. I have had job in past in w2 but they have had end date mostly but here it does not. I was thinking since it is w2, it is either full time or part time, but it is w2 but it does have date. It also says “they can terminate me anytime without cause” I do not see any ending date other than starting date. Does it mean they can terminate me anytime? I already had other full time job, now i am confused

Owner is the HR
So I’ve been working at a local grocery store for about a month now, as the title says the HR is the owner who I’ve never met but everyone seems to despise. The company desperately needs an hr department, everyone feels jaded about management and people quit all the time. Recently I was given a formal write up without any communication beforehand after a minor infraction. No one feels listened to and management seems to have a habit of watching from the cameras and building files of every minor infraction and sitting on it until it’s convenient to bring up (they did this from my first week while I was being trained). Is there anything I can do? I don’t think legally (I’m in California) there’s any laws about requiring HR but it’s a massive conflict of interest. And most of the employees have low morale. Honestly I don’t really…
billionare/CEO tracking app
this will likely get removed by mods since reddit secretly supports evil but why not an app that (tries) to track CEOs, billionares, trillionares, etc (best guesses)? these people who ruin your lives and your planet are not invincible. watch mods remove this because theyre secretly corporate dogs
I started working at a company around 6 months ago, the initial communication was that I would be paid 75k after commission by the person who offered it (hes a manager there), the interviewer seemed a little less convinced it would he that high, but after communicating with the original guy he said he was sure it would be no problem to hit. Against my better judgment I started the job, training was practically non existent, the first week was me tagging along while the manager ran errands for his other roles in the company or they would leave me in the office to make phone calls to clients without any training on the program (they did give me a few video trainings to watch). Second week was a little more involved, but again I was often left on my own. Third week they hired someone else (who also went…
