hello. i (24f) just started a new job as an admin assistant in an agency company. now i must say to get the job is pretty easy i came in an interview and were ask to get to work asap. the company i work in only got 2 staffs including me + the boss. so now the early days were pretty normal i was taught how to use the system and such. i realize i have to do accounting too. ok still can learn right? although a bit complicated for my dumbass. so i was still like in probation right, now after a week, the boss only came in 1 or two days a week and i was left with the other staff. i still need somebody to supervise my work as the system were pretty complicated + complicated insurance case…now i found out the staff will take two weeks…

My boss said the quiet part out loud
I work as an automation engineer for a small company. My boss recently asked the development team to come up with a monetization strategy – i.e. figure out how to make money off our software. Aside from the fact this is technically his job, he also told us he would be thrilled if we could find a way to “automate away” our full-time customer service positions. So, find a way to make my coworkers redundant. He was almost gleeful mentioning the salary expenses he could save by doing that. Wtf? Since then productivity in the group has dropped and he's asking why. I honestly don't understand how someone can be that ignorant of the effect that would have on a small team, who all know each other quite personally. This is coming from a dude who crows on the daily about “teamwork” and prides himself on fostering a “familial” environment.…
Hello everyone, I'm currently in the UK, and I'm shifting sectors. I did an unpaid internship for charity X and I left because the director's son was harassing me at work and behaving unprofessionally. My supervisor however was very supportive and allowed me to file a complaint and let me flag it after I resigned. She gave me a recommendation letter, however, a lot of organizations when I'm trying to apply for a job now require me to provide them a reference and the point of contact to be an official email address which doesn't have a Gmail or email. Also, my supervisor isn't on LinkedIn. So when I emailed the charity after talking to a colleague I used to work with who recommended writing in, to ask them who I could put down as the point of contact for reference they replied to me stating they couldn't write me…
I have worked for a manufacturing company for the past 18 months (salary position). I have recently resigned (and gave 2 weeks notice). Now, my boss told me I need to bring in my passport for HR for “the I-9 audit.” What is up with this? Shouldn't that have been taken care of when I was originally hired? (I believe I showed the documents when I was hired.)
My company and boss lied
Hi guys I really need to rant. A month ago I asked my management for a promotion because my responsibilities are way beyond my assistant title. I had to work directly with management, external auditors and I have no manager or immediate superior so I am independent. I work hard for things I’m passionate about and I knew I was being underpaid. After salary adjustments and a promotion, I was still being underpaid but my boss said they would implement a kpi system where they would pay me extra in a monthly bonus. The bonus depends on my monthly performance. I decided to continue on with my job and work hard to prove I deserve it. My boss ensured that with what I’m doing right now, I’ll definitely get the monthly bonus. I just had the toughest month of my career due to multiple audits and today is pay day.…
It's nearly 7pm right now and I am losing my damn mind. I've been unemployed for about a month now and was offered a job last Friday by a recruitment consultant, to whom I was referred by my partner's coworker. The interview itself was a bunch of red flags in that she was over 10 minutes late, forgot to tell me what the actual role was until I had to ask right at the end, and was overall disorganised. I don't even know what the salary is but I was in no position to refuse as my savings are now depleted and I'm one bill away from overdrafting. I wasn't able to finalise my reference checks until Monday, and the company was on me immediately to get those done so they could send final paperwork through (including where I'm actually supposed to show up), but has ZERO regard for me…
Just got to work tonight and saw a sign above our machine that per attendance policy, you must clock in 6 minutes before your scheduled time. Literally the stupidest thing I've ever seen, and most likely directed at me because I wouldn't be caught dead getting to work more like 3 minutes early, once in a blue moon. Shouldn't be a problem anyway since I work alone at night, all at my own pace, and do kitchen prep work for food items days in advance. I almost always finish my work way before I have any other tasks to do, and stay a few minutes extra to finish up any cleaning – there is no fucking reason that I should have to come in 6 minutes earlier. Just needed to vent since this is not a hill I'm going to fight and die on. Not in this economy, at least.
CEO screws Manager
My workplace is a wanna be soap opera. Our CEO is in a public relationship with one of our managers(amy manager for marketing), which leads to a lot of pressure. I am within another team (support), but any issue or problems get raised within our team because they can't go to their manager amy and causes more work for us. She is known to be a bully and basically is a paid sugarbaby and does barely any work. That same CEO also has an Ex GF in another department, and even had a child with her. I live in the UK, is this stuff normal?? HR avoids any concerns and the circus just continues
Hello! I have been struggling with extreme depression and insomnia for 2 years now. However, it has gotten debilitating in the past 6 months. I am a high level director for my company, and have been having to move things around the past few months to make things work. It’s not uncommon for me to be up for 40+ hours at once. I used to consider myself a high performer. Now I find that I am having to move meetings quite frequently because I cannot physically stay awake. I was missing days at times but haven’t in the past 3-4 weeks after a discussion with my boss. Unfortunately, it got up to my boss that a few clients had experienced 2-3 reschedules (not proud of it ) with me each in the past few months. While I don’t feel attendance has been an issue the past few weeks since my…
Policy is no calls offs within first 90 days. I guess if you do call of you must call no later than 4 hours in advance and get a doctor's note. Knowing what I've seen so far I wouldn't be surprised If there is also a disciplinary write up, because what the hell, why not right? I'm sick. Between the extreme stress, the cesspool of germs, the no hand sanitizer or bathroom break and likely inadvertently touching my face in between customer interactions that left me in complete agony, my body feels like it was replaced with a petri dish of the local publics germs. Was having the closest I've ever been to nervous breakdown by the time I left my shift yesterday evening. Anyway. sore throat, fever, chills, headache, and general apathy about going forward in life when it sucks this hard. Obvious answer is call off, but I…
