My boss / manager is Great, she is a very sweet woman who does seem to care about her employees. She'll host lunches, celebrate birthdays, etc… but even i'm aware that the owners put her under the pump at times with how things get mismanaged and with a very high turnover rate. Ive heard her say things that in her 10years of working with them, she wanted to quit last year. In terms of my work, she has been very accommodating. Had an injury first day back after holidays this year and she's recommending all this stuff for me, checking on me. Telling me to make sure i take breaks (something i don't like doing). She's also allowed me to be very flexible in where i work in the factory and giving me opportunities when i ask. My team leader is also very much a fighter for the people, while…

Is my employer required to pay used PTO?
I am leaving for the military and took the last of my PTO. I took 40 hours, submitted my time ticket and then turned all of my stuff in the day before I was supposed to come back to work. My question is, since I was still “employed” by them for the week and took my PTO before quitting, they should still be required to pay it out? This is in CT. It seems they want to fight me on it. I could see there being an issue if it was unused PTO but I technically used it.
I work for a real estate company doing lead management. We’re a property investing and like house flipping company and I basically set appointments and manage the leads in our system. I do basically everything before we actually put an offer on the property but that’s the part my boss does. I’ve been here 2 weeks and generated 7 very good appointments but my boss hasn’t been able to get in contact with them. I had one last week that was the best one yet. My boss called and talked to him on Thursday and was supposed to call him back on Friday but never did. I told him like 2 hours ago to call asap and he said ok but still hasn’t. The guy has texted me asking why my boss hasn’t called him and I want to tell my boss to hurry the fuck up and close the…
I quit, but they’re asking me to stay
Hey everyone, I’m wrestling with some decisions here and I’d really like to talk it out and get some outside opinions on how I should proceed For context, I work in an advertising agency, and I work specifically in health advertising; oncology. When I say advertising it has a bad connotation, but all we really do is make informative tools for healthcare professionals and patients so that they can understand their treatment journey while going through chemo – so it’s not as nefarious as it sounds. About 6 months ago I left my previous agency and joined this new one; it’s a much smaller agency, but I felt the work was more fulfilling, and the people were a much better fit for me – a lot of the office was queer/neurodivergent like myself. The issue is that because we’re such a small team, there’s tons of pressure, and frankly, there’s…
I don’t want text messages at all hours. I don’t want them becoming too familiar. I’m WFH, so my office line rolls to my cell. They can either leave a voicemail or send an email. Nothing is ever that urgent that it can’t wait an hour until I can get to it. Each time I get a new boss, it’s always the same question: What’s your cell number? Always followed by the same answer: I prefer not to share it.
I think this fits well here.
Antiwork: I find myself in a difficult work-related situation and would appreciate some advice. I've been working as a robotics technician, going above and beyond my role for several years now. Through self-motivation, I've successfully executed multiple projects and meticulously documented my abilities and performance. The natural progression for me would be to move into an engineering position, which I was turned down for last year, with the promise that there would be another opportunity in the future. Recently, I invested a significant amount of my free time in writing new software and designing/calibrating multiple systems that have made remarkable improvements in my area of expertise. Friday, I announced my latest and most impressive project yet – a software system that goes beyond my job role and could have a significant impact company-wide. However, shortly after the announcement, I discovered through my own research that there was a job posting…

I'm only scheduled to work 4 days a week because I'm also a full time student, so on Sunday during my last shift I was scheduled to work the full day but was told to finish early because we were overstaffed, then I didn't get my schedule for the upcoming week (we usually get our schedules every Sunday, sometimes as late as Wednesday if we're scheduled for later in the week). I messaged my boss a few days later to make sure he actually sent the roster but he didn't respond, so I decided if he wasn't going to talk to me over the phone then I'd have to talk to him face to face. Thursday comes up where I'm usually scheduled all the time without a problem so I go into work hoping to catch my boss since he comes in early to open up before me and the…
