Basically fuck Olive Garden

I (17F) applied for the busser and host position at a local Olive Garden. I did some research beforehand and found out that the minimum age requirement to work at Olive Garden is 16 years old, which was perfect. Within a day of my applying, I got an e-mail saying that I got an interview (for both positions) so naturally I was very excited. My first interview went very well. I feel like I answered the hiring manager's questions very well and professionally. I made a point to say that I am in fact 17 years old, but that I would be turning 18 years old in November of this year. The hiring manager didn't seem to mind this, there was no indication that my age was a problem. I shook hands with her at the end of my interview and she told me she wanted me to come back…

Have to pay back employer for over-payment.

My recent previous employer (very large defense contractor), sent me a letter stating that they overpaid me $943. The letter says it will go to collections if I don't pay. I was out on STD and at the end it was denied extension. I never went back because they wanted to retaliate against me, and I'm 64, and tired of harassment. They overpaid me 120hrs @/60% pay. What is the smallest monthly payment that I can give them to keep it out of collections? Does anyone know?

Are there any actual good companies to work for anymore?

I have been through startups the last 4 years, and I’m over it. I also have been in the cannabis space as well, which quite frankly SUCKS no matter what kind of role you have (dispensary management, banking, tech, consulting, etc). You also luck out on good benefits and a matching 401K. Anyone out there have any good experience working for an actual “good employer” anymore?

Has anyone else experienced this? it's been happing to me for over a year and I figured I'd ask you all on Reddit as my parent's advice is just to keep applying.

Help me understand this past year

Was hired to help develop a new team for a growing company. It began with just myself and the director. My role would be to manage and build the new program and team while handling the companies different regions (with a team of analysts) I spent 6 months preparing for this. Originally, the company put a couple members from previous roles after mergers on the team. I began training analytics and it was obvious they didn’t understand excel enough to “get there” so we changed ideas and created the admin group to support the analysts. (Uploading, data integrity, etc) Much needed roles. Up until this point I got along with everyone well enough and was excited to figure things out. Then my director began the process of finding analysts. Hired them. I was excited to work with a team. Then my director told me he gave them all the same…

The salary is confidential, if you tell anyone you are fired.

Today I got a raise. It’s a significant one I may add. The two team leaders sat down with me to discuss this. I signed the papers once I read it and they told me why the raise. (The company wants to show their appreciation towards the long time workers.) At the end my boss told me that the salary and the increase is confidential and if they hear us talking about the subject we are fired. A funny thing I found out also today is that the Romanian government wants to make salaries a sort of public knowledge as in it’s no longer confidential. What do you guys think?

Unfair Practices

So ever since 2019 (except 2020) I have worked every fall season at a theme park working as a scare actor in a pirate themed haunted walkthrough or zone. And I’ve loved it though it’s an exhausting thing to do. One of the biggest reasons I work there is because of my coworkers who’ve become pretty close friends. Last year when I worked at the theme park I worked Friday and Saturdays but the Fridays were very hard because I would literally get off my normal full time job at 5pm and then immediately drive an hour to the theme park. When I arrived I would practically run through the park to be able to clock in on time and then would be hurriedly going through makeup and costume when everyone else would already be leaving. It was extra hard to work Fridays so I decided this year I will…

My boss gave us a certain number of missed clock in/out punches before we get 15 minutes deducted from our hours

I love my job and the people I work with, so it kind of sucked to hear something like this from them. I have never even missed a punch so I'm not particularly worried about it but from my understanding this is not legal right?

Will my current job let me go earlier than anticipated?

I’ve been working for this IT consulting firm based out of the UK. They have a broad clientele, but they needed someone local to NYC to handle clients located in Manhattan. The issue is I had to run over to their sites within an hour’s notice, no matter where in the city. When I initially took the role, I was assured that on-site visits would be infrequent, once a week max, but they've been way more often. Almost daily. Every time something went wrong — even if it wasn’t my fault — I found myself being the scapegoat. I was the face clients saw, so I bore the brunt of their passive-aggressive comments. To add to the strain, I started getting blindsided by calls at all hours, weekends included, with no prior warning. My motivation and spirit began to wane. One day, out of the blue, my boss asks, “What’s…

Finally broke the camels back

I think last week was finally the straw that breaks the camels back for me. I dont know what else I can do. Where I work I am currently the “top” employee in performance, I've been there for months. Consistent numbers, never calling off, literally week in and out my numbers are never below 110% and they've been that way months. Last week finally did it, I was once again pulled into a meeting for something mundane. This time it was for the simple issue of asking a question. I mean, yes I admit I have questions. I have PTSD from a prior job so I ask questions to make sure I'm right. If and when I do make a mistake its a 5 second fix that I can do on my end. I've never had anything go beyond that. Not once. Beyond that, I work OT, I never take…
