Gone, no corrective action, no warning. Was fired from my job because of made up reasons. Unproductive they said, despite meeting their metrics 4.17 out of 5. That's your grade you gave me but wasn't enough for management. So no more insurance, no more paycheck, nothing.
One week to decide is all it took. I get called into the office, told I'm being reviewed for separation. Their bullshit term for getting fired. Then a week later I'm gone.
I know why now. The parent company clearly didn't make enough profit this year and at 6 years I'd be tenured. So they got rid of me and anyone remotely close to that. Now I get nothing, I know all this was for profit because I have friends who still work there and the "veteran" employees are suddenly gone with new hires on the way to fill the gaps.
Doesn't matter, long as the share holders get theirs. I now have to figure out how to pay for my medication, doctor's appointment, therapy, the roof on my head. My wife, my dog everything, all of it because Wells Fargo needs to come in and make as much money a it can out of a little green lizards insurance company.
Let's not get started on COBRA insurance it is a joke. 1600 a month after I got fired and have no income?!? I paid 160 before, fucking hilarious joke. Unemployment has more hoops then a quidditch field. And I have bills and rent to pay because I couldn't afford a 300k plus single bedroom house minimal because the market for housing is trash. America you are a clown.
I worked hard and I got nothing to show for it because in one week they can decide to take it all away because” they said so.” I remember my parents saying that when I was a little kid getting scolded for being up past bedtime. Only nice thing is I have more time to enjoy outside, my D&D, art, cooking, and I guess I can stream more on my twitch. Simple joys and fun right…gotta have hobbies?
I get my time back but at what cost? This is all just to vent while I sit on hold for 5 hours so i can maybe cash my 401k out and not end up financially ruined in one month. Because who's actually going to live long enough to really retire?
Your time, is your time, you don't get it back, don't waste it for anything or anyone else. /Rant
