I started working in accounting last November. In the interview, the boss said working hours are 9 to 5. Not the greatest, but what can you do. First day I come in what I think it's early (8:20), and I see everyone is already there. So, we work until 5, but everyone is here at 8, great, got it. So I start coming in 8, not to piss off people and not to be the last one in the office as a newbie. You would think people would be leaving at 5. Nope. Almost everyone (except two people that are parents) stay until 7-8, sometimes even longer. I can't understand why. There is no paid overtime, there is no reward. Why then? Do people not like going home and seeing their family, pets?
Coming in 8 I could do but not leaving at 5? No thank you. At 4:59 I'm f-ing packing.
