When FDR established the minimum wage in 1938, it was $0.25 an hour. It was enough for one man (women didn't work at the time) to comfortably support a family of 4. Adjusted for inflation, $0.25 an hour would be roughly $5 in todays money, and it was enough for an entire family. Today, the minimum wage is only $7.25. Just barely over what it was when it was first introduced when adjusted for inflation, but it hasn't kept up with rising costs. FDR explicitly stated when he introduced a minimum wage that it should be living wage. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't understand US history or economics.
I would like to add that I don't make minimum wage, I make a decent wage but I am just saying don't look down on minimum wage
