(I don’t know if this belongs here so please direct me to the right sub if it doesn’t).
Pretty short but TLDR at the end.
I was working a summer job a couple of years ago, and am still pretty uneducated about labor laws in the United States. What had been happening is that we were told to come in at 11:45 to open up at noon (day-camp) but, since 15 minutes was never enough time to set anything up, plan, nor make the art project for the day, I would come in around 11:20-11:30, and this was at a time where every extra penny counted for me. When it came time to get paid, I found I was only ever getting paid from 11:45 to closing. We did not have a way of clocking in, and my employer never showed up on time either. We completed our hours at the end of each week, but I still kept track of when I got there. Should I have been getting paid more?
TLDR: I came in early to work everyday in order to set up but got paid only from my start time. Should I have been getting paid my extra 15-20 minutes?
