So my office lost our receptionist and they are voluntelling people in my department to take scheduled shifts at the desk. At my office the receptionist is under HR and my position is no where near that. I've been added to the schedule which ends a couple hours after my normal end of day. I just got a seasonal job over the weekend that requires I leave at my normal time so I emailed my boss and the HR person creating the schedule to inform them and see if I could get an earlier shift. I get a reply from the HR person saying my request is unreasonable and I have to deal with it like people have in the past years before me. Was this request really unreasonable? Also my boss hasn't said a word.
