I left a job without anything lined up due to a very uncomfortable work environment. It was due to my boss. I don’t want to rag on this person, because I know time are tough and I do feel sympathy for the stressful position they were in.
However – this wasn’t the best move obviously. I got covid right before I left and basically after telling them both sides of the conversation fizzled out. It was like a quiet quitting on both ends.
Anyway – I was paid 16.50 at this job. Yeah it’s not the best but It’s more than the starting pay because I have past experience. Despite this though, every single job I’ve been offered has lowballed me and even when I try to negotiate it doesn’t do anything.
Even after I officially turn them down! They don’t care to come back and offer the .50 cents more.
I even mentioned in this recent interview that I was making 16.50 previously when they asked what my salary expectation was.
“I can definitely ask.” Then they call me a few days later to offer the job and I accept because I was excited about this role in the moment. Only to log in to the pay roll app tonight and low and behold – 16.
It’s .50 more but I know if I accept this I’m literally just going backwards for what I’ve worked up to. I’ve worked up to 16.50 and I think I deserve it.
I want to email them and ask about it but I’m really defeated, maybe my desperation is the reason? Because previously it was easy to get 16.50. I don’t know what to do.
