Americans still working thru disasters

I'm out in western Washington where a windstorm knocked out power to roughly 250,000 households this Friday and Saturday. Most of us didn't have power for the whole weekend. Monday morning, I wandered to Starbucks to get a coffee since I couldn't make one myself and you know what? EVERY SINGLE PERSON WAS AT WORK. Every table and every outlet, people were logging in and responding to emails. People who hadn't showered in two days. People who didn't have functioning toilets. People who literally did not have heat for 2 days were in Starbucks, immediately after a natural disaster working. We can't even take one day for rest after a natural disaster. What is wrong with our country. Can we even fix it?
