This just happened and I am furious about it, I need to vent.
I work at an office that sells commodities around the world. I work in sales and despite having a small salary I can make good money with commissions.
After chasing them for many months I finally got a client that was willing to buy a lot from us, they made an order worth $300.000 usd. My commission was 10% ($30.000 usd).
Everything was ready, and the client made the payment, but our bank would take 0.1% commission for the transaction (which is a lot, but is also standard practice), so 300 bucks.
My idiot boss decided that we shouldn’t pay for those 300 dollars, so he rejected the payment and told the client that they should send more money to cover the 300 dollars.
The client was understandably angry, but decided to make the payment again, this time for $300.300 usd
So this time, after the bank took it’s 0,1% commission we will receive $299.999,70
For those miserable 30 cents, my idiot boss decided to reject the payment again and told the client that they should pay for those 30 cents as well.
The client was so angry, he called my boss every name in the book and then decided that he doesn’t want to make business with a company so petty.
Needless to say, the client I was chasing for months is gone and my $30.000 dollars in commission are also gone.
I am speechless and thinking about sending my 2 weeks notice.
