Exactly what the title sais.
The company that pays my bills offers app solutions to other companies, from sales management to security and other.
One of the companies that works with us suffered a cyber attack and got a large part of their data encrypted.
Luckily we keep records and copies and it wasn't that bad, but it got them paranoid.
So yesterday calls started coming in about the apps being blocked, the web version being down, and people telling us they need an MFA.
We didn't understand so we called the company's IT, they had no clue, we called their managing team, they had no communication and we're also blocked (and angry)
They demanded solution, so since there is a protocol in place for this we guided them on OUR app installation and such… It just made things worse. They didn't have permission and they got their phones (their private phones where they had to install this app) blocked and the system exceeded entry attempts and went into the new and flashy cyber security mode and KICKED PEOPLE OUT.
Well apparently the company wanted and MFA but ours was too expensive, so they choose another one, from another external company (in India) that promised great results.
They didn't tell us, they didn't tell their IT, they didn't tell their workers ( not even an email).
The other company said it's not their issue, because we told them to use our app, and are refusing to help, and now they wan us to sort it out because “we did this”.
I've been screaming into a pillow since yesterday.
Pray for my sanity.
