Can’t get this off my mind

Hear me out.. I thought about this a year or so ago and can't seem to get it off my mind. Why on Gods green earth don't non skilled labor employers hire as many people as they possibly can, stick all of them into one giant group text, have that same position filled by people who want a consistent full schedule, then send out a group text when that person can't/doesn't come to work and bring in the first person to respond for the day/week/whatever.. Is there something i'm missing here. I know an unbelievable number of people who can't or don't want to work but sporadically, people who choose to just not work at all because they can't. This isn't just a benefit to workers, this is a win win situation. I know in my situation I don't even need to work, but I would like to sometimes when…

This isn't just a benefit to workers, this is a win win situation. I know in my situation I don't even need to work, but I would like to sometimes when I feel like it. There are so many people like me out there but so many companies whining and bitching about someone taking off for the day or calling in sick, like dude.. what am I missing here, cause I know the mass of people that run these multi billion dollar companies aren't this stupid.
