Are my management basically saying “Go fuck yourselves, you desperate plebs!”?

This may sound ungrateful but my company recently shouted out about a gift card for each member of staff for Christmas, which is great! A wonderful little boost around Christmas it's really nice they remembered us etc etc They'd mentioned that this gift card was £50 which is well… it can make ends meet, just, and a very welcome gift. I get a call a few days later from a colleague, frantic, asking how much was meant to be on the gift card… I contacted work and they said “oh its £50 for staff who've been here over 6 months “. So they've been on a recruitment drive begging for staff since the heatwave in July, desperate for staff to come in when this place (a care home) what struggling with yet another wave of covid. So all those new staff who came in and risked their health got… a…

So all those new staff who came in and risked their health got… a £15 gift card whilst bragging about £50 for everyone.

Maybe I sound ungrateful but that nonesense seems just vile.
