Management stifling dissent in petty ways

Last year my employer (a large multinational) mailed out Xmas gifts to all the staff members (we necessarily work remotely). This year we’re getting nothing. I think it’s because employees complained after the departing CEO sent a company-wide email crowing about “record profits this quarter”, while workers haven’t seen a raise in three years. Still no raise, and I feel like management has been passive-aggressively giving us hints since then that if you complain, you’ll get nothing. Basically the message is be good little boys and girls and you’ll be rewarded in due time. Such poisonous, vile logic.
