This year at the company I work for, they did a Christmas raffle. Let me preface by saying there are over 500 employees in our company. They were raffling off 25 prizes that everyone in the company would have a chance of receiving. The prizes were really cool so everyone was super excited. The day of the drawing, 23/25 of the winners were Team Leads and Operating Managers. The amount of tickets that were for each person entered was based on performance. We are good at our job. Our stats are amazing as a company, and we all had a near equal chance of winning. But why the heck would they let the employees who are on salary and make double what the rest of us make, enter the raffle? My entire team of 30 was annoyed that they didn't receive a fair shot. The employees on salary don't have any stats to show. They get performance reviews at the end of the year. 450 of our employees are hourly and struggling. The salary employees are always boasting about taking vacations, buying a house, new car, etc, while the rest of us are struggling to keep food on the table. It's not even about winning, it's about not even getting a chance. Next time they try to do something “nice” for us, I will be opting out. My team has said they will do the same.
