I deal in beef processing and slaughter in Oklahoma. I have bin working at this company for almost a year now. I got promoted to Export Coordinator and I've only been working that position for just about a month now but now with some shady things happening behind the scenes 1 of the co-owners of the company is now bin removed.
That owner which was my main boss is now gone and he was the one that was organizing deals with other companies for us to export items. Now without him my job seems to be null and void I haven't been told that I've been fired or let go of at all my controller just said that I wouldn't be working until they had more export things to do if they even were going to continue to do exports.
I'm hourly it's bin two weeks with a total of 13 hours of work. So now I filed for unemployment but I was told that if I go on unemployment I would not be able to come back to work even if they picked up more hours for exports (I'm the only one specifically for exports) and that i possibly might not get any severance pay and or PTO hours that I've accumulated.
What can i do legally to get anything to help me in transition to another job my lease is up this month i don't know where to go next?
Tldr: Boss got caught stealing and now I'm in limbo of no work and had to get unemployment. Can I be denied severance pay because of it?
