Around September I got a job at this little coffee shop in my small town. My boss originally hired me for special evening occasions that were held on the other side of the building like yoga/meditation classes, creative writing, etc,… But she realized she didn’t need me to be around for those as she could cover it herself and so I got moved to the weekend closing shifts.
I was fine with it, even though it was only 10 hours a week (9-2 each day) because It’s my first job and I have huge problems with adhd and maintaining a healthy work life. I just need the money and this one seems to be a good fit.
I got my schedule for January the other day and my shifts got pushed from 9-2 to 10-2. So even though I might be 15-30 minutes late here and there with dishes, shutting down, clean up, etc,… I’m realistically working 8 (mayyyybe 9) hours a week. Tips aren’t bad otherwise but the space from 9-10 is really annoying to miss out on tips.
Back when I had 10 hours a week, I brought up to my boss getting more hours and it basically boiled down to not having any need for more hands. Now I have even less.
What should I do? Would it be better to look for a different job.
