Not entirely sure if this is the right subreddit for this, but wondering if someone can provide insight/steer me in the right direction. My husband works for a multi billion dollar pipeline company in California. This year has been exceptionally difficult for us due to inflation, kids getting older and needing to be a part of more activities, etc. We’ve been really looking forward to his end of the year raise and bonus. A few months back my husband was in stop and go morning traffic in his work truck. A woman fell asleep behind the wheel and rear ended him, causing him to hit the car in front of him. Everyone was thankfully okay. Today he had his end of the year review which is typically done in person but his boss chose to email him instead. E-mail essentially said he was doing a great job and to keep up the good work, but due to the car accident he was involved in they would be withholding his raise and bonus. It further stated that they know it wasn’t his fault but he should of allowed enough room in front of his truck so that he wouldn’t of hit the car in front of him. Is this…. Okay?! Can they do that? It seems wildly unfair and just an excuse to not pay my husband. We often joke about how cheap this company is, (They have made my husband continue to drive his work truck with all the damage from the accident.) but this seems insane. Would it be reasonable for my husband to raise hell over this? Thanks in advance!
