A two minute loom and the notion that 'if you get an email in the next 30 minutes you've been affected'. My partner is a director, his entire team has been laid off, though it's unclear whether he's going with them as he's received a notification to have a meeting with his higher ups later in the day but no email. He was not informed of his team being let go. Other people that are his friends in the company have been let go with no warning.
This company got a multiple page spread in a prestigious business magazine about how 'employee centric' they are. It's been bullsh*t from the start but honestly this takes the absolute p*ss. The 'head of workplace' (HR) is a Jordan Peterson type and is just insufferable. They think they're doing so fantastically at being progressive and they always go on about wanting to 'move the needle' and it's genuinely just like watching a car crash.
So yeah, don't get a job at Oyster – as one employee said it so perfectly; they're building the plane whilst flying it. That always works out well, right?
