Misclassification as overtime exempt

Anyone here with experience negotiating around a misclassification as an OT exempt employee? I’m on salary for a large financial institution and my position regularly requires overtime doing work as an operating technician for AV systems. I don’t manage any other employees and I’m not an IT admin nor do I perform any other duties that fall under the exempt category according to FLSA to the best of my understanding, however I am classified as an exempt employee. Curious about others’ experiences in similar situations if anyone has stories to share. I don’t want to burn bridges unnecessarily but I’m tired of giving away hours of my life for free. (Edit: in US NY)
