My boss has been grossly negligent over the past few years, and I don’t know what to do.
One of my coworkers, who happens to be a member of the union, much like me, has been doing some research and found out that my boss doesn’t really care about our collective agreement. I work at a supermarket, and there are 3 people who have a higher function than the other colleagues and who are the bosses. They are, in order, the owner of the supermarket, the 2nd boss, and the 3rd boss.
This gets kind of technical and it’s hard to differentiate between them due to a language barrier. I live in the Netherlands and here we have a difference in position of these 3 bosses. I can’t really tell what they would be called in Dutch either, other than assist manager. Obviously the owner is the highest boss, but than there is another boss who really takes care of day to day business. That’s the second highest boss. After that comes his assistant. It’s like having 2 assist managers.
The lowest of the 3 bosses is, unfortunately, underpaid. 3 of them have already resigned because of this. The first one lasting a couple years, the second one maybe a year, at most, and the last one just quit today. He lasted no more than 3 months, if I kept track correctly. The 2 highest bosses get paid more than the 3 highest boss, although I haven’t asked how much each boss makes exactly, because we all know that is a taboo, I do know the 2 highest bosses make significantly more than the 3rd highest boss, who I believe is paid about the same as any other employee, who is not a boss.
Can I go to the union with this? Does anyone know if this is legal at all? The previous bosses have all resigned with the benefit of being able to prove that they can be a boss, making them more money in the future, but unfortunately not with us
