One of my employees is having some health struggles right now, he may need surgery in February and will need some time to recover. He was clearly anxious and scared about any impact to his job security and it was just so sad to me. Evidently he's been 'let go' in the past when needing time off due to this issue.
That's not a problem here thankfully, we have robust policies around medical leave, but the relief in his face when I told him not to worry about his job was so palpable my heart just went out to him. This has clearly been eating him up for days and days now.
Tying health insurance to work here in the US should be criminal 🙁
