Grocery store cake decorator. Currently making under the County minimum wage.

Hello antiwork, I’ve been an avid follower here for quite some time and have been in a weird situation. I got hired on to be a cake decorator at $16.10/hour at the grocery store I work at. I started in February 2022 and am coming up on my one year anniversary. Hello antiwork, I’ve been an avid follower here for quite some time and have been in a weird situation.

I got hired on to be a cake decorator at $16.10/hour at the grocery store I work at. I started in February 2022 and am coming up on my one year anniversary. At the 6 month mark I was supposed to receive a review and potentially a raise but due to Store Management changing it never happened. Right before the holidays came around, I began having the conversation with the new store manager about getting a raise. Requests were put in for the district manager but I kept having to remind the store manager and keep asking about it.

On January 1st, 2023 the County I live in raised the minimum wage to $16.30/hour. For the past two weeks, my pay still has not changed on my pay stubs and I am still at $16.10. I’m currently looking for other positions but I wanted to know the best route of action for this. It is my understanding that this is illegal and I can seek repayment for the wages I haven’t been paid these past two weeks.

I live in California for reference.
