I just found out an employee who was on maternity leave is suing the company where I work & I hope she wins!
We all went fully remote when the pandemic hit.
I hadn’t interacted with this employee for several months and just assumed she no longer worked here. Apparently, she went on maternity leave and hasn’t been allowed to come back until she provides:
Proof that her baby is in daycare & that baby is not at home while employee is working.
Feeding/pumping schedule…
There are a couple other issues regarding missing back pay & unemployment.
She hired a lawyer and is going after the company.
More power to her! There are several employees who I know have their kids at home, one of whom would get on video calls with her kids running around the house, and her youngest sitting on her lap!!
